After doing an MRI on my back, NOT my neck, which was my big complaint, and just an xray on my neck, he wanted inject corticosteroids into the joints. Now wouldn't my HCV viruses have loved that! Then both my rheumatologist and my PCP suggested the chiropractor. I am SO glad! I had seen one about 5 times several years ago, but these guys are so much better, and integrate the physical therapy and rehab. I'm amazed at the difference. I'm so glad I didn't go back to the pain clinic! C __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I did a chrio several years ago for a neck injury and bone spurs where my neck and shoulders meet. I was not impressed. While it helped with the immediate problem, there was no " therapy " involved other than popping my neck and back. It hurt so much for 6 friggin weeks I did that then the " treatment " ended. i was soooo glad. I don't wanna go back thru that again. I think something like " massage therapy " would do more good than popping the damn thing. I shoulda asked my doc Wed for some therapy, and even when I have a list of things to discuss, I feel rushed sometimes, and most of the time, when I'm in tne docs office, even just waiting for the doc, you know I don't feel so bad then haha. Maybe it's the mental thing, I feel releived I am gonna get some help with the problem. The only time I don't feel as bad while seeing a doctor is when I go for a migraine. Then it seems worse cuz I want it fixed NOW. I growl at kids in the waiting room and glare at anyone who even looks at me hahaha. Just call me ogre alley. alley

Guest guest
A lot of people don't know that cortisone provides a breeding ground for the hep c virus. I only found out recently so since you mentioned it, I thought I would emphasize it for the new folks. > Now wouldn't my HCV viruses have loved that! Guest guest
True, I think I have heard any steroids are good for it. Before I was daignose with the HCV I was being fed, inhaling, and shots of steroids. Which they found later all the things was the HCV, is why the medicines never worked, I suppose. Yes, when I unthinkingly had a corticosteroid injection, then a week of the pills, my viral load, which had been pretty steady at <200,000 for a while, shot up to somewhere over a million - the test stopped counting there. It's probably back down by now, but I'll be using those as a last resort from now on. (This was back in January when I had the extreme ankle pain, originally diagnosed as gout - but it turned out to be just arthritic swelling.) Guest guest
I didn't know that about cortisone. I get a few shots a year and it's never bothered mine. I got them several times while on treatment and so far, still undetected! What makes the cortisone so conducive to replicating the virus? alley
Guest guest
I don't know, Alley....maybe Claudine or Doc have an answer. I just know I suffered a long time because I didn't get it....and I still have to use a cane to do stairs AndromedaGurl wrote: > I didn't know that about cortisone.
