Guest guest
Hi Betty, Nice to hear from you. Also 2b. Sorry about your divorce, Mother and Aunt. Alot to handle at the same time. I must get back on my supplements like Milkthistle. I'll look for liverite. Is it an over the counter supplement? I haven't heard of Zadaxin. Is it something that is available for treatment? I'm not looking forward to treatment. I feel pretty good most of the time. I get tired especially running around in the heat and get headaches. Not sure if it is the Hep. or just part of the aging process! Guest guest
Hi Dee Dee, Well, if you have to have hep, then 2b is probably one of the better types to have. I'm also a 2b. I would have to agree with you on waiting for the biopsy to see where you are at before thinking of treatment. I also have early cirrhosis, so I did opt for treatment, went negative immediately, stayed negative throughout my 6 months. However, I did relapse on my 6 month post combo, BUT, I believe it was because I was going through major stress, and the hep virus loves that! I had been facing a nasty divorce court appearance (had been separated for 2 years, found out he was gay), my mother passed away, and we were extremely close, my favorite aunt, her sister, passed away, the septic tank backed up and flooded my entire trailer!!!!! I was also very bad about taking milk thistle and liverite. So I'm sure these circumstances were behind my relapsing. The doc wanted to do treatment for a year this time...and that is the current trend. I said no way...I did fine the first 3 months, no sides, etc, but the last 3 months were horrid. Also, my viral load is 360,00, not to bad considering it was over a million originally. So, even though he said he'd do another pcr in a year, I'm going to push for a 6 month check and see where I'm standing. But I still will not do the standard combo treatment. I might consider the peg, but if I am at a stage where I can wait, I'm thinking zadaxin might be a good way to go. Anyway, just wanted to welcome you back, I understand what you mean about not having a computer...when mine was in the shop, I had to rent one...couldn't stand to not have one available. Recent studies have suggested that 1 year treatment is better for all genotypes, as many genotypes 2 and 3 who went undetectable on 6 month regimens are now relapsing. Guest guest
Syd, As far as 6 months or 12 months I suppose I'll have to go along with whatever my HMO will cover. Hopefully my Dr. will know all the recent studies. I'm not even sure if Kaiser covers all the cost of treatment. Does anyone out there know?
