Guest guest
There is no real way of knowing and being aggressive early in your treatment is the best way to have little or no loss of function in 20 years. Joint damage can happen pretty rapidly so it is important to get your disease under control. Many people do well with Methotrexate together with Folic Acid or Leucovorin to minimize side effects but others need stronger medications. For me I am taking both Methotrexate and Remicade to get my RA controlled. Also I’m 79 so I don’t think I will have to worry about 20 years from now. I seem to remember that you were working away from your home and had limited access to a rheumatologist. If possible you should see a rheumatologist every month or two until you have a good idea that your RA is no longer progressing. If you let it progress to joint damage there is no reversing the damage but joint replacement can help somewhat. God bless. I am on methotrexate. However, I don't really know if later I would have problems with my joints or methotrexate slows it down enough. Thank you, Mostafa.
