Guest guest
Ok, lol , this might be a really dumb question but i can't help it ! I'm clueless ... What exactly is acupuncture in regards to helping with pain? I don't know just doesn't sound too helpful but maybe that's bc im still too traumatized from having the EEG thing , with all the needles and stuff. But anyways , i have really bad leg cramps so would this help and where is this preformed? thanks ! -Britt
Guest guest
Hi , I will be having acupuncture beginning next week as my GP just referred me. His reason was Degenerative Joint disease secondary and caused by CMT. In my opinion, I don't think it can hurt, I am not a doctor, but it restores balance to the body and helps to maintain Homeostasis. From what I have read, disease can occur when channels become blocked. Acupuncture unblocks these channels through medians in our body, therefore creating the " homeostasis " . I am just giving it a try. I feel it will either help or not, but I don't think it can hurt me. I hope it helps you. I will let you know more as I do, and if it helps me. Take Care, Tina!:-) Need the most current medications 'alert'? Need to know more research news? Want to know about CMT people, their interests and hobbies? Guest guest
Yes, I did, but only for a couple of weeks, then she sent me to the neurologist. The chiropractor was trying to get feeling back in my hand with the acupuncture. Didn't work, and she had also been working on me with doing my back. But you never know, it was also before I was officially diagnosed. Take care,

Guest guest
Hi, group! Well, besides RA, OA, and Fibro., I have been fighting sciatica for the past 12 months. Tried phys.therapy, it was a temp. fix. I have had six epidural steroid injections into my spine, again, temp.fix. I am considering acupuncture...has anyone tried that yet? gentle hugs! Guest guest
Hi Marcia, I also might have sciatica. I was put on prednisone which did nothing. Luckily for me, I was just on it temporarily, but I'm still having problems. I didn't notice the sciatica until during the summer quarter. I only had two classes, put my books in backpack and took the stairs. Apparently, in my case that might have triggered it. My doctor didn't say anything to me about physical therapy. That kind of makes me mad. I feel like I was told prednisone is the only thing that could help. Or I could grin and bear it. Susiemarciastoyle <marciastoyle@...> wrote: Hi, group! Guest guest
Hi , as for me, when I have acupuncture done, the next day is a fabulous day, no matter what i had the procedure for. It gives me a mental and physical feeling of well being, energy galore, and just plain feel good. The next day that wonderful feeling is not there, but I have not had it for helping me with Gleevec or any other drug,. So I really can't compare. Acupuncture has helped me with arthritis, a terrible rash from Gleevec and several other things, like the back ache I now have. It does take several treatments, depending on the problem. Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club From: Rosen Lum <rrosenlum@...> Subject: [ ] Acupuncture Date: Thursday, July 29, 2010, 2:40 PM  Dear friends, I've been on Tasigna for going on three months. At first it was wonderful, but then the sleepiness set in again and now it's a battle to stay awake. I started acupuncture, hoping that might help. I've only been twice, but my response was: That first day, I feel like a million bucks. Like I've never been sick! I get a lot done and enjoy a great outlook -- energy and stamina. The second day I feel like I've got a bad case of the flu. All I can do is sleep, I'm dizzy, queasy, and everything hurts. The third day, I'm back to normal -- Tasigna normal, that is. Sleepy, but no other beefs. My question is, does that sound normal? For acupuncture, that is. I realize it's a long-term process and I'm all for sticking with it if it will eventually lead to a good change. Thanks folks! Best,
