Usually they recommend if you have hep C to get the hep b shot which is a series

of 3 shots one the first month then 30 days later then 6 months after.

They also recommend the hep A vaccine and that is a series of 2 shots one the

first month then 6 months after all children now are required to have both in

the state of Texas.

A little upset because of this

diagnosis...

Hi, Group.

This is my first time doing this and I think I need to reach out to others who

have this disease. I am upset that I was diagnosed with Hep A and C, more C than

A. I have taken the injection in June and waiting for another in

October/November. I'm really hurt, guys. What do I do? Will it affect me getting

married and having children? Will they contract the disease? I'm a 50 yr. old

Black male...I'm too young for this...

yes...im up to date on mine, got a hepB shot in sept and im done,at first i

regreted it but now i think its important to get these shots.  i found out that

a high viral load doesnt mean that the liver will be damaged worst and because i

heard that these shots cause your viral load to rise i was afraid to get them

but i really think its best to get the shots.

I don't know for sure how long I've had this but in 2001, while giving blood it

was spotted. Went to a doctor and he gave me the inferon injections which I had

to do and ribivarin. After several months, I returned to him and he said to me

(I took it this way) that my white blood cells were functioning properly and I

was good, so I thought it was over. Just recently I went to the VA and had the

usual physical tests and to my suprise the doctor told me that I had a strain of

Hep A & C! So, I'm back here again, mad, sad but optimistic.

hi my friend, having hepC shouldnt effect your getting married if this woman

loves you for what in your heart, does she know about this? if not,i think its

only fair to be upfront and tell her but if she loves you she wont let that stop

her.the chance of her getting this is slim to none threw sexual contact.ive been

with my hubby for going on 15 yrs and he doesnot have hepC. as far as having

children wow,i dont know...you would have to talk to your doc about that and

plus do some soul searching whether you want to take a chance at bringing a baby

in the world that may get it and then it have to go threw wat we are going threw

or worst. how are you doing, how long do you think youve had this?

, Are you feeling sick, weak with a fever now? If not, you are probably

OK. The test results may be showing you have hep A antibodies. You may have

been infected with hep A a long time ago and just have the antibodies.

Check out these links to HCV Advocate's website. Somewhere on the same website

is a piece regarding hep A and hep C coinfection. By all means do complete the

vaccines for hep B.
