Guest guest
Usually they recommend if you have hep C to get the hep b shot which is a series of 3 shots one the first month then 30 days later then 6 months after. They also recommend the hep A vaccine and that is a series of 2 shots one the first month then 6 months after all children now are required to have both in the state of Texas. A little upset because of this diagnosis... Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com Date: Friday, July 3, 2009, 1:06 AM Hi, Group. This is my first time doing this and I think I need to reach out to others who have this disease. I am upset that I was diagnosed with Hep A and C, more C than A. I have taken the injection in June and waiting for another in October/November. I'm really hurt, guys. What do I do? Will it affect me getting married and having children? Will they contract the disease? I'm a 50 yr. old Black male...I'm too young for this...

Guest guest
I don't know for sure how long I've had this but in 2001, while giving blood it was spotted. Went to a doctor and he gave me the inferon injections which I had to do and ribivarin. After several months, I returned to him and he said to me (I took it this way) that my white blood cells were functioning properly and I was good, so I thought it was over. Just recently I went to the VA and had the usual physical tests and to my suprise the doctor told me that I had a strain of Hep A & C! So, I'm back here again, mad, sad but optimistic. Guest guest
, Are you feeling sick, weak with a fever now? If not, you are probably OK. The test results may be showing you have hep A antibodies. You may have been infected with hep A a long time ago and just have the antibodies. Check out these links to HCV Advocate's website. Somewhere on the same website is a piece regarding hep A and hep C coinfection. By all means do complete the vaccines for hep B. http://hcvadvocate.org/hepatitis/factsheets_pdf/African_American.pdf http://hcvadvocate.org/hepatitis/easyfacts/African%20Americans_09.pdf Glenn > > Hi, Group. > This is my first time doing this and I think I need to reach out to others who have this disease.
