Guest guest
Hi, Group. This is my first time doing this and I think I need to reach out to others who have this disease. I am upset that I was diagnosed with Hep A and C, more C than A. I have taken the injection in June and waiting for another in October/November. I'm really hurt, guys. What do I do? Will it affect me getting married and having children? Will they contract the disease? I'm a 50 yr. old Black male...I'm too young for this... Guest guest
There are a lot of folks on here that share much information. Learn all you can before you let doctors make decisions for you. I will be 52 in a couple of weeks. I have probably had hep c for 30 years. I found out when I had my son 9 years ago. I also have a daughter that is 24. Neither of my children have this but that is not always the case. ~*~LIN~*~ > Hepatitis C > From: stewart_mcadoo@... > Date: Fri, 3 Jul 2009 08:06:53 +0000 > Subject: A little upset because of this diagnosis... > > Hi, Group. > This is my first time doing this and I think I need to reach out to others who have this disease. Guest guest
Yes I was angry, upset, cried, felt like my life was over, was scared for my children, mad at myself and others because I had this. The best thing you can do is learn all you can. People and Doctors have different opinions on what to do. If you look through this site you will find many links to lots of information. You have to make the decisions for yourself but I choose not to do treatment. I learned lots here. ~*~LIN~*~ > Hepatitis C > From: stewart_mcadoo@... > Date: Fri, 3 Jul 2009 08:25:18 +0000 > Subject: RE: A little upset because of this diagnosis... > > > Did you feel angry when you found out? Guest guest
hi my friend, having hepC shouldnt effect your getting married if this woman loves you for what in your heart, does she know about this? if not,i think its only fair to be upfront and tell her but if she loves you she wont let that stop her.the chance of her getting this is slim to none threw sexual contact.ive been with my hubby for going on 15 yrs and he doesnot have hepC. as far as having children wow,i dont know...you would have to talk to your doc about that and plus do some soul searching whether you want to take a chance at bringing a baby in the world that may get it and then it have to go threw wat we are going threw or worst. how are you doing, how long do you think youve had this? Guest guest
hi lin, yaaa i connected with this person below because i was a little confused about alcohol and the part it may play in the damage of the liver along with the hepC,BELOW IS WAT HE WROTE BACK,JUST WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH EVERYONE CASE THEY ARE DRINKING...  Hey Deborah, I can understand why this would be confusing Basically, alcohol does not increase your viral load, however, what it does do is damage liver cells and weakens them making it easier for the virus to attack the liver itself. This is why the general advice given when someone has Hep C, is to reduce their alcohol intake, if not altogether A high viral load does not mean more liver damage, but combined with alcohol, the chances of liver damage are higher. Guest guest
I am sorry about your news. You can still get married have children. I did get married after diagnosis and I had one son. I have 2 sons. The older one also has hep C. He is 4 years old. so You dont have to stop living just because of HEP C!! When you first fine out like most of us including me you think how can I go on> THAT WAS 2 years ago for me and life keeps going on a day at a time. Actually what this diagnosis did for me was show me to not take life for granted. Anyone of us could be hit by a bus and be gone in an instant. Live life to the fullest. Laugh hug cry when you need to. Ask friends for help. ( that was always my hardest thing) I never wanted to burden anyone with my problems. There are lots of people that love to be a listening ear or take a walk with you heck a lot of the time they are lonely too. My sincere suggestion is to not stop living but start!! Guest guest
I just want to add I told my husband I had hep C before we were married and he went with me to my doctor's appts and asked them if it would be safe if we were to marry and have a child. 2 gi doctors and one ob doctor told us the same thing there is slim to none chance of getting it thru sexual contact. But you have to not have sex while the female partner is on her period to protect from blood contact. I knew I had hep C and did have a child at 38 years old . My son does not have it. Thank God, the older one does but unfortunately his bio dad and I both did. And I breast fed so we are not sure how he got it. They even say you can not pass it thru breast feeding some say dont. American Pediatric Society says dont. I believe Liver Foundation says it is ok???? Who knows But I dont get stressed about all this cause I have a really really big GOD*** I believe this is probably something HE can handle... I dont have any problems praying everyday to ask God to take this HEP C dragon from all of us or to have them come up with a vaccine. ( that the horrible drug companies with give out at a reasonable price) I do pray just like that. I know He listens. I dont believe I got my self on the straight and narrow path for him to just let me fall to a yucky disease. If I do while that just means HE wants me up there fishing in his big ole pond with 35 pound catfish lol. A little upset because of this diagnosis... If I do while that just means HE wants me up there fishing in his big ole pond with 35 pound catfish lol. A little upset because of this diagnosis... Hepatitis C Date: Friday, July 3, 2009, 3:06 AM Hi, Group.
