Guest guest
I'm soooo sorry to hear about your break up when you and others thought everything was fine and compatible. I've read many times that Prozac was called the " divorce drug " , and Zoloft would be in that same (SSRI) category. Strange behaviors, flat affect/emotionally flat, loss of interest, and all that has certainly been talked about. Especially when you read how a family member describes someone acting " totally our of character " once they were on SSRI's. I'd be VERY concerned about how Zoloft is affecting her serotonin levels and as a result her change in behavior. Hopefully somebody can " reach her " and then get this identified with her prescribing physician. Hugs... Guest guest
This is similar to what I am struggling with. I am trying to discover a way to kick a shrink out of my husband's life before he is totally destroyed. The man does not have a disease, he feels like sh*t. Those are two different things. So long as his brain is disabled, he can never stop feeling like sh*t, by the age-old way of learning to cope with feelings and to grow up. You're right, he has lost the ability to have normal feelings. And he has lost the ability to realize the condition he is in. Yes, he does and says stupid, irrational things, becomes hostile about stupid things. Inertia, weakness, couldn't care less, no energy, no interest , falls asleep sitting in a chair, he has been made into a blob. He has repeatedly been given higher doses at the first report there is something lacking about what the drugs do. Imagine the stupidity of giving MORE of a drug that is useless, unnecessary, AND causing a problem!!! The shrink had him on Prozac for years, plus another drug, now he has him on Celexa. The man is emotionally and sexually inert, AND has lost a big part of his character and his ability to distinguish right from wrong, and to use good judgement. In addition, he has become a very unsafe driver. He developed " sick sinus syndrome, " a heart rhythm problem, and he gained 75 pounds, and now he has the most God-awful twitchings and jerking spasms when he's sleeping. This man does not need to be on any psychiatric drugs, there is no " major depression, " the shrink himself uses the term " neurotic depression. " So, how can an interested party get the shrink to take a long walk off a very short pier, when the husband who is the primary victim has got his brain so thoroughly disabled, he doesn't know what a mess he is?? gertie Re: Did Zoloft Ruin anyones relationship or marriage? Guest guest
Gertie, Have you asked your husband why he even wants to keep going to the psychiatrist and why he wants to continue taking these drugs .... when he feels so awful? Would that be a good beginning to convince him to begin a " slow " withdrawal and use appropriate supplementation to begin a healing process at a cellular level, that is damaged from SSRI's??? I hope it is okay to offer my next suggestion on this Group. The owner/moderator of Withdrawal_and_Recovery group has 20 years of experience with SSRI withdrawal successfully using homeopathic remedies. She would be a good contact for you. Stay connected. Your story will open eyes for others!!!! Just me.... " So, how can an interested party get the shrink to take a long walk off a very short pier, when the husband who is the primary victim has got his brain so thoroughly disabled, he doesn't know what a mess he is?? gertie ====== ====== .. .. .. Guest guest
HI, it sound like you need to do something drastic. You need a dr on your side, though. Guest guest
Jim -- There is NO insurance involved! My husband has Medicare and a good comprehensive medical insurance from his retirement package, and NEVER, in over a decade, has the shrink billed either or both of them. My husband does not question it, he simply writes out a check for $60 or $70 every single time he sees this " doctor. " He can't or won't really answer my questions as to why this is done. So far, I've gotten two different answers, neither one a real answer. My husband appears to be mesmerized by this shrink. Guest guest
Thanks for the web site alternative mental health, I'll look there for ideas, I did try to give the cardiologist a head's up about the Prozac when Patric developed sick sinus syndrome and had to have a pacemaker installed. The cardiologist rolled his eyes, snickered, but wanted nothing to do with getting into the middle. He told Patric to talk to the shrink about it. These new " patient privacy " federal laws that have all the doctors and hospitals afraid of talking to one person about another person, only make it harder. Our family doctor may be willing to listen, but so long as Patric loves his shrink and his drug of choice, nothing will change. That's why I am so desperate, and having fantasies about assassinating the shrink from remote control. Guest guest
Jan, I've been nursing your post for a few weeks now. My mom was very ill, and then she died Sunday; other family obligations with deadlines attached.... Anyway, I have studied homeopathy myself for many years, on my own and with study groups, not credentialed. It has done wonders for me and for family members in some areas, although when my daughter was depressed, the remedies worked only a few days, then she would relapse. It wasn't until I persuaded her to eat a piece of chicken and pork chop, she snapped back within three days to her former sunny self, and continued to eat animal protein, and continues well...But, back to my husband, who I love dearly, in spite of his garbage, he has been very good to me when I was in need, and is generous to a fault. Anyway, he presents obstacles, i.e., habits like addiction to coffee, which tends to cancel out homeopathic action, and a hostile, arrogant attitude toward homeopathy and natural medicine/nutrition. It would be relatively easy to " bully " him nicely into taking droppersful of homeopathics in distilled water, which I intend to try, but so long as he continues to use the Celexa and coffee, it may be wasted effort. I am trying Lycopodium to try to get at the attitude, but I know it's a long shot. I will contact the group you mention below. Thanks! Gertie Re: Did Zoloft Ruin anyones relationship or marriage? Just me.... " So, how can an interested party get the shrink to take a long walk off a very short pier, when the husband who is the primary victim has got his brain so thoroughly disabled, he doesn't know what a mess he is?? gertie ====== ====== . . . Guest guest
Gertie, I too have a question for you. You mentioned that your daughter was depressed and bounced back after eating animal protein. I have had a suspicion for years that some people, perhaps not all but some, have an extremely bad reaction to vegetarian diets, and that what they need to do is simply eat a balanced diet. Do you agree? Thanks, heather >From: " cateh " <ccsh@...> >Reply-SSRI medications ><SSRI medications > >Subject: Re: Re: Did Zoloft Ruin anyones relationship or >marriage? >Date: Wed, 29 Sep 2004 19:42:31 -0400 >

The short version of my story is as follows. My wife and I had been married 23 years when she was put on Paxil for the same thing and the same way GP and we were best friends very happy and had plans for the future. After about 6 months she had completely changed She was exibiting all the signs of mania and simply walked away from everything she had ever cared about. She was well on her way to being a world class photographer as well as having started a book on photographic marketing. It has now been 16 months since she walked away, she has filed for divorce twice (I was served a couple of days ago)but I continue to fight for what I know is right. She has not been stable in well over a year,I've tried to explain to her and her family but I'm getting nowhere. How much have you studied SSRI's and their effect on the brain? My guess is that like myself you have read everything you can find. The focus now is on people committing suicide and I commend that fight. We however can not forget about the untold numbers of people that have been mentally, physically and financially raped by these DEMONIC medications. Sorry about the soap box Charlie
Guest guest
-- I know that is what happened to Jess. She decided not to eat " anything that has eyes " and after several years of following this diet, she gradually changed to a weepy, pessimistic, person, giving up on life and her dreams, totally different from her innate sunny nature. I did not want a doctor anywhere near her, as I knew she would be put on Prozac, so I went to the internet and library books, and discovered that a vegetarian diet that is not carefully constructed can lead to a depletion of a particular amino acid, which in turn manifests as the symptoms she exhibited, so I urged her to just try a piece of chicken, to see if she began to feel better, and she felt so much better, she gave up her vegetarianism, and never looked back. She is fully her old self, working hard at her veterinary studies, and having a good healthy social life and an optimistic, confident outlook. For several years, while I was cooking for her, I ate the way she did, but was not committed to it, so I guess when I was out, I ate meat and poultry. Anyway, I was never affected as she was. She really got into trouble after she went off to college and lived in a dorm, eating nothing much besides salads, pasta, bread, and fruit, too busy to shop, had no kitchen, etc. Maybe she is more sensitive to the amino acid depletion, or maybe I was just less severe in my restrictions on animal foods. gertie Re: Re: Did Zoloft Ruin anyones relationship or >marriage? >Date: Wed, 29 Sep 2004 19:42:31 -0400 >

Guest guest
I have had exactly the same problems with my husband on Arropax (Paxil). Lost business, wrecked financial life and our lives and nearly wrecked our marriage. The description of Gertie's husband is same for mine to a T. Finally I realised it was the SSRI. I feel such a moron for not realising it sooner. I have actually been a rep for Eli Lilly for Prozac and that is perhaps why I didnt realise sooner, becuase I had really believed the drug company line. The effect is so insidious. I am here looking for a Doctor or Psychiatrist in Australia who " believes " that ssri's can cause this zombie syndrome. (I have to fight an insurance company about loss of the business from zombification caused by ssris) Can anyone help me with contacts with doctors groups who believe in the negative effects of ssri's or know any shrink in Australia. The " divorce " drug description is so accurate. Husband who really cared before, and does again now, just didnt - The violence which went with the disinhibition was great for me too as you can imagine - got to the point he didnt care if he hurt me. The violence went after he went off the drugs. Took him months to get off them too becuase of how they are " non-addictive " but you just cant stop taking them without getting real bad side effects. Does anyone know about long term cardiac effects? Husband now has a " bundle branch blockage " in his heart nerves which hasnt gone away 3 yrs after stopping the drugs. Also feels slightly brain damaged permanently by the drugs.
