I can't turn my hand over to accept change, or to accept a pretty flower my granddaughter brings me.....but I cope. I can't twist my wrists properly to use a standard typewriter or keyboard, but my Microsoft keyboard presents the keys to me in a way I can use. If I'm so reckless as to sit on the ground, I have a problem....I can't put my hand down flat to help me up....so I have to make a fist and use my knuckles to push me up. I had a problem chopping onions and such until my Fred made me a chopper designed like an Inuit ulu.... that's a curved blade with a T shaped handle....Imagine a T setting in a horizontal C, or half-moon. Best chopper I've ever used. The biggest problem I had to overcome was the simple task of wiping my butt!!!! I'm fat. Add wrists that won't bend to fat belly, thighs, and butt.....and I was developing a problem. Problem solved by keeping a ten inch forceps near the toilet paper. Let your imaginations take it from there, folks. It was interesting last time I had to fly anywhere.....this was after 9/11, and airport security was all alarmed by my forceps in my purse. I had thought ahead, though, and gotten my doctor to write a note for me explaining why I needed to keep the forceps with me rather than in my luggage......just imagine....you're at thirty thousand feet, in the airplane restroom with a wet bottom.....and your wrist won't bend to let you deal with the problem.......love my forceps!!! Guest guest
HI, my name is and I live in Florida. Im from Puerto Rico and this is the first time I reply or read anything that has been sent to me. Itis wonderful to know that I'm not the only one with the fused wrist situation. I feel embarassed when I go to the store and the clerk hands me change and I cann't bend my writ to take it and the coins fell in the counter. The forceps idea is wonderful, sometimes I have the same trouble. It's great to talk to people that can understand.

I just had my other wrist fused on Tuesday Dec. 5th. So far its ok. and yes I have had a BIG problem with whipping my butt because my right hand has been fused for a long time and I couldn't use my left hand it was to PAINFUL. But i somehow managed. and it is a pain to try and get change back form people. I use to try and hide my hands for along time when I was out in public and alos try to hide my feet becasue they are so deformed. But I try and hold my head up now and try not to let it bother me anymore. It took years for me to do that. Thanks for your imput.
