I think I found the source of some confusion, in this statement:

Perhaps not everyone understands the word "homeopathic", and I want to clarify this, and the reason for my statement. I mainly was debating the issue of "being tough on that organ."

Homeopathic medicines is not a catch all phrase for herbs, supplements and other pills. Homeopathic medicines refers to a specialized group of pills used in the practice of homeopathy, very dilute remedies designed to provoke the body into a healing reaction.

Homeopathy dates formally from 1810, the year of publication of Christian Hahnemann's "Organon of Medicine." Dr. Hahnemann, a German, was at one time considered one of the greatest heroes of modern medicine. He developed the theory based on "like cures like," called the Law of Similars. Basically is states, "A substance that produces a certain set of symptoms in a healthy person has the power to cure a sick person manifesting those same symptoms." Hahnemann coined the term "homeopathy" to describe medical treatment based on the Law of Similars, putting it together from Greek roots meaning "like the disease."

Hahnemann also coined the terms "allopathic", ("other than the disease") and "antipathic". Of course, allopathic medicine refers to the standard medicine practiced in America today.

The second law of homeopathy is the Law of Infinitesimals. It states that the smaller the dose of a remedy, when properly diluted, the more effective it will be at stimulating the body's vital forces to react against disease. These remedies that he tested and developed were common remedies of his day--meaning basically plant forms.

Hahnemann worked out a precise method for diluting remedies to maximize their effectiveness. Beginning with an original substance, such as the fresh juice of a medicinal plant preserved with a litttle alcohol, he put one part of it in nine parts of an 87 percent solution of alcohol and distilled water. This was followed by "succussing" the vial of solution, to activate the therapeutic potential of the drug. The result of this first step in a one in ten dilution, called the 1X dilution in homeopathic shorthand. One part of this in nine parts of diluent, succussed 100 times, makes the 2X dilution and so on up to 30X, 200X and beyond. Some homeopathic remedies are such extreme dilutions that little or none of the original substance is present.

Homeopathic medicines are sold in vials of tiny white pellets. These pellets are made up of lactose--milk sugar--on which a drop of a dilute suspension is placed. The pellets are placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve.

Homeopathic physicians are some of the most meticulous observers of the doctors' creed "first, do no harm." With these minute doses of remedies, they could not possibly make patients worse. However, history showed that their method worked, even for the gravest infectious illnesses. Of course, there came a day when there was a desperate struggle, and a long and bitter war between allopaths and homeopaths. We all know who won.

That is the reason for my statement debating the issue of organ damage. With homeopathic medicines, it is just about impossible.
