Guest guest
I have a question for you Ev or anyone that might know the answer....you say that your sis had RA...how long did it take her to get her SSI? I have had RA now for 12 years and just had surgery on my neck for a spur that was pressing into my spinal cord. Thank God I was not paralyzed. I also have two herniated discs that he did not do anything with. He said to leave them alone. I am a nurse and I have had a hard time with the lifting obviously because of the pain in my neck, hands, etc. I have been off work for 2 months now. Do you have to be off work 6 months before you can start the process of getting SSDI? Is RA reason enough to get SSDI....don't mean to sound dumb about it but I really don't know. I talked to one girl that had RA and she said it took her 2 years. How is one suppose to live 2 years without income??? Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Melody, it took me 3 years and 3 months before I finally got my ssdi.. though it may not take as long as that in other states. My sister filed after I filed and she got her ssdi within two years of filing. Hugs, Babs Re: some people > > > Babs I agree with you 100%. > I knew of someone who did the same thing a few > years ago and believe it or not someone did turn her > in and I was glad it's not right for people to do > that and the ones who really need it have to go so > many years and fight. > My sister had rheumatoid and it took her son,my > Mom and I everything we had to fight for her and > that was about 25 years ago. Guest guest
It took every bit of two years to get her everything. She was able to get Medical Asst.,food stamps and a very low income from the state. Plus my Mom and I helped her out the best we could. Then she got breast cancer and 6 months later she passed away. It just gets to me when I hear of people getting right away and they really don't need it. I for one should have went out on a disability 3 years ago but I remembered the pain we went through with my sister, and a few other people that I knew were trying to get it and are still fighting till this day. So I just waited till I turned 62 this past November then took my Early retirement. You should try now and if you get rejected get a disability lawyer to help you out. Hugs, Ev. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply! I am sorry that happened to your sister. I am glad it worked out for you with your early retirement. I don't know how they think people with disability can wait 6 months and not be able to work which means no income...and they know we have to see doctors to be treated for our disability. It makes no sense. Mel --- EVELYN AIREY <EV9255@...> wrote: > It took every bit of two years to get her > everything. Guest guest
I am feeling better since I had surgery on my neck. I was in constant pain before the surgery. So I would say 50% improved. I had a spur that was pressing on my spinal cord. There are two herniated discs (one above and one below) the area the dr operated on and actually removed and replaced with a donor bone. So I will never make it to 100% better. If I sleep just right (neck pillow and on my left side, etc) my neck does pretty good. I woke up today and the pillow was on the floor...not sure if my little girl decided she needed it. haha She is 2 1/2. SHe tells me her neck hurts and cries for my pillow...or acts like she is crying. She is a character. The weather is rainy today so you know how that makes arthur feel. I took those shots for about 2 years and finally my family dr said to go to the Dr in Nashville for a myelogram...which showed that I did need surgery. I am glad that I did now that it is over. That was my first surgery and I was a nervous wreck. Yes, I would get them in the cervical area too...tell them to do both...spread them out. Mel --- EVELYN AIREY <EV9255@...> wrote: > I'm in land.
