Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to chime in real quick and let everyone know that I am having a cervical epidural injection tomorrow. Anything I should be expecting as far as pain? I had an injection done last year but it wasn't the same as this one. It was very painful and very scary! This new doctor is ensuring me that he will make it a pleasant experience but I am still very very nervous! Also, does anyone have issues with their facet joints? Anything that can be done to help those? I hope everyone is doing well!! And to my Olivia, I am going to send you a note tonight!! Sorry, it has been far tooo long! Take care everyone! Guest guest
Hi , Wishing you good luck with your epidural tomorrow! For me, I have had many, too many to be able to remember the amount of them but my doctor is real good and besides for being prep'd and waking up I can't say that I remember anything of the actual procedure...which I made him promise before going in! lol! Afterwards you should go home and lay down, use ice because even though you cannot see anything from the outside, your insides will have swelling and you might feel a little bit jumbled up inside (different from the RF...radio frequency...procedure in which you wake up and can't feel your head!) try to lay as flat as you can, using just a flat pillow if possible. If you're prone to getting headaches sometimes the inside swelling from the procedure will put some extra pressure in your head and can cause one, laying flat and using ice should help that. Any exta discomfort that you're feeling from the actual sites should get better in the coming days. From experience I can say that what they use (Cortisone & anesthic?) can give you some side effects. I had hot flashes, puffy faced, increased appetite (which then caused weight gain) and general feelings of bitchiness (my husband would gladly attest to that! lol!). All of which became less until gone after I'd say two weeks for me. Everyone is different. Just take care & rest afterwards. Just because you don't see much from the outside doesn't mean that inside hasn't been dissrupted and need a little TLC. Well wishes being sent your way! Debbie And a shout out to Livie from me too! : ) > > Hi Everyone! > Just wanted to chime in real quick and let everyone know that I am having a cervical epidural injection tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi ! Glad to hear that your epidural went well yesterday and I'm sorry that you're not feeling well because of it. Try to remember that everything that you're feeling right now is a normal reaction to what you've had done and things WILL get better than how you're feeling today. The stress, getting yourself upset to the point of shaking, tightens all your muscles up and that alone can make you feel like a truck hit you...now add the procedure on top of that and of course today will be a rough day. Give yourself a TLC day, take your meds (not sure what you take), use ice today too as it's still the first 24 hours, listen to music, watch tv (no horror movies! lol!) use some aromatherapy (lavander if you have it) and take it easy. Have you gotten your headache under control yet? at least down to a low roar? My doc always tells me the, first day (meaning today for you) stay put, this will make the rest of the days more bearable. The first few days can be uncomfortable and then you should see improvement. Hopefully to the point where you get better than where you were before you had the procedure done. Then ride it out and see where you stand with your pain once you know what this procedure did. I don't know your age or your history (I think I missed that message) but don't jump into another procedure until you give this one plenty of time to settle. I think the procedure that you're talking about is the Radio Frequency (or RF) that cauterizes the nerves, sort of like nicking them is all that's needed using RF to disrupt the pain patterns and can help with the pain & radiating pain and last approximately six months, although it can last longer than that too. Again, everyone is different. I have had this done many times (both cervical and lumbar) the recovery from it is very much like what you're going through now only after having it done for the first 24 hours or so you feel pretty numb from it and have to be careful because of not feeling. Hope you start feeling better soon! Debbie > > > > Hi Everyone! > > Just wanted to chime in real quick and let everyone know that I am > having a cervical epidural injection tomorrow.
