Hi ,

Owen here,

I've had EMGs twice once in 1974 and once last year. I mentioned to the doctor

doing the last EMG that it seemed a lot less painful and his response was that,

" Back then the tests were reality new and he told me that at that time they used

the needles over and over and the got dull. They the had to resharpen them them

selves. Now the use brand new one every time. I guess we do have small things

to

be thankful for. The last EMG I had was almost bearable. Still not one of my

favorite things.

Happy Trails

Owen

It's Jim

I can't tell you now but I can saturday as I'm having

the second one friday. With me it is not the emg

(needle stick) that bothers me as much as the ncv part

of it. The damn shocks are what I find annoying. The

only needle stick that bothered me was when they went

behind my knee for the peroneal nerve and it caused a

spasm of my muscle, I could not control it and they

found they could not control me!

Since my family are all type 2, I probably will not

show greatly slowed ncv's anyway. All I'm asking for

is to be able to work in comfort for a couple of years

with an improved gait.

Yes I'm feeling a little better (damn virus).

Will post Saturday with a comparison for you.

Hey everyone

I have a question.

For those of you that have had an

EMG done more than once,

does it hurt more the second time?

Or as CMT progresses does an

EMG hurt more? OR MAYBE DOES

IT HURT LESS?

Hmmmm

hi,

owen & shannon

coincidentally my first emg was in 1974 at franklin hosp. san

francisco. this is going to sound like a clich`e but it seemed like

the needles were smaller, kinda like accupuncture needles. they

presented a low profile for my endorphins. but i finnished up,last

fall, what i hope will be my last emg (i know, who am i kidding) and

the needles seemed bigger. and new dimensions were added to my pain

memory. the machine could have been antique. they do get very

provincial here in georgia.

guts & glory to ya.

peace ...brian.
