Guest guest
Tatezi, Where do you live? I have an extra bedroom now that the kids are gone. I have been looking for a room mate to help with the bills. But have not found anyone, so the room is there and is furnished. If and When you decide to stay all I am asking for is $375 a month (once you are able to pay it), that would include utilities too. But in the mean time it is empty and if you want to, you can stay here, may as well let somone use the room and someone that knows how we handle life with Hep C. I also know how it feels to worry about somewhere to live. It is a rental because I lost my house (along with job etc...) in St Pete, FL back in 99. It is a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath, town house, the room which is empty is the master bedroom. I am in GA near Macon. Your welcome to stay here if you like. Guest guest
Thank you Connie...what a sweet thoughtful offer. I'm in Chicago...a long way from Georgia. But I will remember this offer and if it really does come down to my living in a cardboard box under the train tracks with the other unemployed and homeless people, I might just take you up on your offer. Right now I'm stil tyring to trust in the universe and that something will come through for me before the end of my unemployment benefits. Obviously this has been a lesson for me to be unable to find work...I'm not sure what I've learned from it other than to declutter and keep my home clean (see http://www.flylady.com <g>) and how live on brown rice and oatmeal so I can keep my cats fed. That's not true, I've learned a lot of things during this period. I've learned to conquer fear among other things because this has been very frightening for me. And I've learned that in order to move forward in life you have to give up the past. I think my participation in Fly Lady's program taught me that...getting rid of all the old things I've held on to for years and years just in case some day I might need them. We'll see what happens and I won't forget your offer. Is Macon a big city? Does it have decent public transportation (I don't own a car so public transporation is important to me in terms of working). You are a kind and thoughtful person...thank you for caring. Guest guest
Chicago is a long way away. I am not exactly in Macon I am next to it. I am 1 block into Centerville from Warner-Robins. Warner Robins is kind of like a military town, there is an Air Force base there. Macon has good public transportation, I have seen the buses. I have a car and also the Galleria Mall is across the street. My neighbor lost her car so I help her. Lots of people in this area work for GEICO, it is an insurance company (mostly car) and there is an office about 1/2 of a mile from here .. Macon is a really beautiful town. There are so many southern mansions, like you would expect to see in Gone With the Wind. I was born and raised in St sburg, FL and not use to seeing homes like they have here. it is about 1 1/2 hours to Atlanta. I can't think of a town to compare Macon to, it is just so different. If you look at a map it is kind of in the middle of GA. I have also heard of extensions on unemployment. It has something to do with the percentage of people unemployed. I am on Long Term Disability, where I get too much to get help and not enough to pay the bills. Don't forget you are welcome here. Guest guest
Dear Tatezi, Let us know where you are. We have a guest bedroom that can be a temporary sanctuary. It would be permanent, if not for the grandchildren. We're not going to see you homeless. I don't have a lot, but how much do you need to tide you over? Keep us posted. We might be able to find you a job prior to your move. No more talk of card board boxes. We're in Va. Not quite as far away as Georgia, but not around the corner. Our mass transit system stinks. Do you know how to drive? I don't know what the work climate or housing costs are in Macon, but I can assure you that Tidewater is cheaper than Chicago. The weather isn't quite as good as Macon, but, once again, it beats Chicago. Been there, have absolutely no intentions of EVER going back. No offense meant, hope none was taken. Guest guest
LOL, Anne my sentiments exactly. I don't know what I was thinking, it is cheaper than St Pete though but medical sucks. The place I rent here for $500. would be anywhere from $750. to $1000 a month in St Pete/Clearwater/Tampa area. I actually wanted to move to Atlanta but cost of living is to high. Emory University is there as well as the CDC. Macon has Mercer but not big on medical. Atlanta is worse than St. Pete. You can get a decent two bedroom apartment for $500.00 plus utilities here. Utilities aren't too bad. We have the Sentara Health System, which is huge. And Richmond with MCV is 90 miles up the road. I get my medical care at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, the Navy's " first and finest " . Since I helped by the equipment for the new hospital, at least I know the optics are good. For the most part the rest of the equipment is the same way. IF you make it to Atlanta, I have a dear friend who teaches at Emory. He's the head of the pulmonary department. It always helps to know someone in the system and is not only an excellent doctor, but an all round great person. Take care, Anne
