Guest guest
I, of course, totally agree with you Glitter. Psych drugs are as bad if not worse than mercury in vaccines. The very treatments that are supposed to help are creating more trouble than if the medical industry simply quit using the drugs in the first place. I would trade big profits for human lives any day. Wish pharma would also. Guest guest
I found it hard to believe what I had read and allowed some time for a correction to appear. I just wish the " paxil mafia " would get real & stop hogging the media. Paxil is bad........so too are all the rest of them. > In a message dated 9/28/05 9:22:53 AM Mountain Daylight Time, > SSRI medications writes: > > > > Standing with his wife in front of the drugmaker's 16th Street offices, > > , 45, a former general contractor from Chattanooga, Tenn., said he > > was not opposed to prescription drugs or to psychiatry overall. Guest guest
this is so insulting to those of us who are actually showing up at protests whenever and whereever they are. Newspaper take comments out of context... you KNOW that! The " paxil mafia " as you put it took the time to GO TO THE PROTEST!! As well as other victims of other ssri/snri's. You have the same opportunity to attend as I did and tell your story. We " hog " the media because we FIGHT to get the media attention to get the word to those who don't read message boards. Don't insult those to take their story beyond the computer. > > In a message dated 9/28/05 9:22:53 AM Mountain Daylight Time, > > SSRI medications writes: > > > > > > > Standing with his wife in front of the drugmaker's 16th Street > offices, > > > , 45, a former general contractor from Chattanooga, > Tenn., said he > > > was not opposed to prescription drugs or to psychiatry overall. > He rejected > > > the actor Tom Cruise's well-publicized criticism of psychiatry > as > > > " pseudoscience. Guest guest
It is Paxil they are talking about because they are in front of GSK who makes Paxil. It wouldnt make sense to protest Zoloft or Prozac there. __________________________________ - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail. Until you are standing next to me at a protest this all means nothing. How nice that you attack a person who has put in so much time in getting the word out due to ONE quote in a newspaper. Guest guest
, I think your anger is misaimed. I was at the DC protest, and I was asked if I felt that these drugs sould be banned. I said I was for full disclosure. I was told I was avoiding the question, and then dismissed as a scientologist. I have nothing against scientology, but to the Drug's media informed public, scientology has become the scape goat for big Pharma. If the drug co's with the help of their advertising department can paint protesters with this brush, They get the sympathy of the public. It is not fair that Scientology takes this in the neck, but the Drug Co's are happy to pass the buck. It is a fine line to walk, and an even finer one if you are a scientologist. If you were there and heard the tone of the question, or in what context it was asked, or how the answer was edited you may be on a different side. My sons court case, the reporter admited my statement in the court was taken out of context,by his editor, but it was what I said. When he told his editor He thought My statement about SSRI's and suicide needs to be looked into, he was told I was looking for excuses. Six months later, SSRI suicide link was a huge story. __________________________________ - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail. Guest guest
I would welcome your comments on Rob 's statement. I don't believe that I have taken things out of context (nevertheless I'll stand to be corrected) further I allowed reasonable time to see if the press had misquoted Rob. I note you accept that your lot " Hog the Media " You seem to imply that I don't take the story beyond the computer, please check your facts. > > > In a message dated 9/28/05 9:22:53 AM Mountain Daylight Time, > > > SSRI medications writes: > > > > > > > > > > Standing with his wife in front of the drugmaker's 16th Street > > offices, > > > > , 45, a former general contractor from Chattanooga, > > Tenn., said he > > > > was not opposed to prescription drugs or to psychiatry overall. > > He rejected > > > > the actor Tom Cruise's well-publicized criticism of psychiatry > > as > > > > " pseudoscience. A Psychiatrist that arranged for the subversion of my family unit at a time I was going through the withdrawal from not one drug but a cocktail of five ! A Psychistrist that set out to discredit me in order that I might not reasonably tell my story to one and all that my problem was his medicine ! Were you there? ofcourse not you were thousands of miles away in America So you couldn't be there when I won my action at the Court of Appeal & changed the case law in my country. Guest guest
I see that Paxil sales have fallen in the UK but what you need to understand that when I and others spoke to people I made sure that they understood Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac etc were all just as bad. I know we are all frustrated by the slow progress and the deception and for many the persicution. This is not a situation where Paxil was singled out as the ugly stepsister and everything else was fine. In fact there were many people that stopped and would say I take Zoloft or Prozac or whatever else what can you tell me about that? Rob chose Paxil and GSK because it was the drug that impacted him. That doesn't mean that he isn't aware of the dangers involved with the rest. As a matter of fact there were bumper Stickers there that Rob paid for that said Zoloft Unsafe at any dose as well as Prozac and others. Nobody here has forgotten you and nobody here expects you to make a special trip from the UK for a protest but please don't create a mental image of the context of the protest by what you read in a newspaper article. Until you are standing next to me at a protest this all means nothing. How nice that you attack a person who has put in so much time in getting the word out due to ONE quote in a newspaper. Absolutely disgusting.Time for me to leave this board, it's just not worth the aggravation.>> ** There are many more ways, than standing at a protest, to tackle this issue and have an impact. In fact, to be effective we MUST have a multi-pronged plan. Dismissing people's comments because they were not there is not valid. I've made financial donations twice to help Rob in his efforts. It wasn't much, but it was what I could afford. Had I known his overall opinion of psychiatric drugs I would not have made any donations and I would have also taken action to contradict that opinion as I did yesterday. I would do that no matter who it was that made that type of statement. Rob doesn't get an exemption from being criticized for his statement because he organized a protest. Why should he? As far as " ONE " quote in the newspaper, it isn't the quantity, it's the quality of the quote. That " ONE " little quote did more damage than you obviously can appreciate. " I don't think the use of psychiatric drugs is necessarily bad. " (Rob ) This kind of 'help' only helps those who seek to discredit the message many of us have been delivering for so many years that psychiatric drugs are indeed " bad " . To those who say at least was doing something, what makes you think that others haven't and aren't? is a relative newcomer to the psychotropic drug issue. I've been working on it for 20 years in many different venues. I've given seminars, I've talked to countless politicians, NIH personnel, even people at the FDA, and I've worked with countless people to assist them in safely discontinuing and recovering from the ravages of psychotropic drugs. I don't think I need to stand in a protest line to have the right to speak up. I've earned it. Psycottish@... wrote: << We must not forget he made the choice to do something. Again, I don't have to stand in front of a drug company to have my efforts be considered valid. We need to do many things to address the issue. Perhaps when some of you who are critical of those of us who have expressed our disappointment in Rob have put in the amount of time and effort into this issue as we have, you'll understand our concerns and criticism. -- Creel
