I'm assuming you're talking 78 thousand. A person can get by at the 20,000

range. Don't worry - mine dropped low during tx. Even a minor skin cut is no

problem. Just antibiotic and a band-aid. It might heal a bit slower - I cut

the meat of my palm on a sharp knife while digging in a drawer - it healed

nicely even though I should have gotten stitches. Sick of drs. at that point in

tx. Don't worry. I'm assuming your sis is taking her vitamins. An extra

dose of Vit-C throughout the day can't hurt - I've heard it helps platelets.

Platelets...Roches standards are different than Scherings. At 50,000 you go to

half dose and at 25,000 you go off treatment. Read the inserts in her script and

take to the doctor if need be.

My platelets dropped to 69,000. Did a lot of research and learned that Vitamin K

and Calcium are critical to platelet production. My thought was that if you are

doing something that destroys the plateletes, try forcing them to create more.

After two weeks on K and extra calcium my platelets were up to 86,000.

Scientific...no, but seemed to work with me.

We know if she can get through this dropping of the platelets issue, she will

probably be able to hang on for the full six months (she's 3-A).
