When I dug for the truth post drug reaction back in '98, it was practically to China. After my reaction to the Wellbutrin, I came across the god-man, Breggin ~ talked to him and was told I must " prove " my case ~ get the Summary Basis of Approval for the drug, Medwatch reports, etc. Our group has since had contact with him with our scientific findings. I will not denigrate the man here, nor go into details, but, what I have found in this man is yet another cookie cut out of the very many whom I have contacted who are doing quite well as authors and very, very well paid experts in legal battles. My question? What makes them any different than those on the other side they are fighting? To me, many of them are doing nothing more than participating in a political power struggle, i.e., as in who wins in the upper echelon prestige department. It's all about the money, any way you look at it...Take the bucks away and you tell me ~ any of these guys offer their services pro bono? Downer? Yup. True? You tell me... You tell me...>> I think that sometimes people don't realize how much time, knowledge, and energy others give away. At what point do people have a right to be paid for their time? People with far less knowledge get paid for their time. Some people work at Burger King. They work for eight hours and get paid for eight hours. Others do work that requires they do more work in order to be good at their work. They often work well over eight hours a day. As none of us know just how much others give, how can we judge them for what they don't give? Regards,

I am only speaking from my own experience with the man and others. It is my own frustration speaking here, as I see things from a different viewpoint, i.e., when does giving just for the sake of giving become the " payoff? " I don't in any way propose that those who have given much to learn and speak out not be compensated within reason...I just see those who are in need of real help, who have no money, who are left out of the loop and it frustrates and angers me ~ my sore spot. ....A mother works well over eight hours a day in order to be good in her work ~ and yet her contributions are rarely monetarily rewarded...Always depends on what side of the elephant one is looking at, eh? Guest guest
In 1997 when I was in the throes of Paxil withdrawal, I contacted the Breggins and was in quite an E-mail fest with Ginger over the next year as I was formulating the plot of my book. they sent me literally REAMS of research on these drugs, FedEx'd them, too. They were both very supportive, and I offered to do whatever work I could for them, for free, just for all the valuable information they sent me, but alas, I was too sick to do anything for years post-Paxil. I personally know of a lot of people he helped for free, but I'm sure he does try to get paid when and where he can and what's wrong with that??? But yes, I do agree, that he is a major player in the "game" but that doesn't make him an incubus.
