Pull the plunger on the syringe back 1/16th of an inch and see if you get any blood. If you do, IMMEDIATELY take the needle out, pitch it in your handy-dandy BIOHAZARDOUS CAN, get a new one and start over. What you have done is hit a vein. NOt a good plan with this drug. BE Careful......if you don't know how to do this, grab the nearest RN and have he/she drill it into you until you are comfortable doing it. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! Guest guest
Hi Tatezi, You mention you are doing shots in your Tummy as well as Alley Pat was. What I am asking is, I keep thinking of there but I am scared that they will really hurt there I have been using the places where I can find the most fat deposits, like the inside of my thighs and a area on my hips toward the back. It burns something fierce and leaves big knots under the skin even there sometimes. I have tried letting it warm up and different things, rinsing needle off before putting in my skin etc...I am doing 5mu shots every night so it is like a hunt and search party...lol..I am wondering about if it would not hurt in the tummy but too chicken to try it...Take Care Connie __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I was told by both the liver guys I saw and the Committment to Care folks that the shot is absorbed better and faster in the tummy. Sometimes they hurt, sometimes they don't. I think it depends on if I nick an artery or blood vessel, but don't know for sure. I insert the needle slowly, I don't just stab myself. When my tummy hasn't had any un-bruised spots I've used the outside part of my thighs and it always leaves a lump there for a day or two. Does that help any????? With THIS kind of drug therapy I don't think 'faster' is better. Slowing the absorption of the interferon is the whole point behind the pegylation technology - the half-life of interferon is already too short! Even with pegylation the half-life of Schering's Peg-Intron is still only about 50 hours.
