It's the watery fluid that carries all the blood cells, etc., around in your body. Guest guest
WOW, Scarlett was right! Wonder where she picked up that bit of knowledge. Is there a problem with it? Thanks Claudine Take Care, Connie 3 of the incisions are leaking now, not as bad as the 1st one. Looks like the staples are pulling out. --- claudine intexas <claudineintexas@...> wrote: > Since Doc said he was busy..... > > Serous fluid is the clear liquid that separates from > blood when it is > allowed to clot. But I have a sneaking suspicion that MAYBE you are up doing to much. Maybe you need to go to bed and rest a bit????? Guest guest
When I had my surgery on my leg for melanoma I had a tube draining the melanoma incision and the groin incision. The fluid that came out was mostly clear, with a bit of red now and then. It looked wierd but it was ok. If you have questions with that you should ask yer doc to be certain. Guest guest
Thanks Pat, This is now a yellowish tinge and tacky. How long did it drain? How much? Whenerver I change the dressing in the little bit it takes me it will have run down my leg. They told me to use Maxi-Pads, it fills one in a hour and a half. It seems a bit slower but not really that much. I went to the Drs office Monday but he wasn't in. I see him Friday. I don't know him I think I met him we talked a couple of minutes. Asked him if hr could look at my Liver and he dais yes if he was able too. Con __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I had the drain in for several days. He wanted to keep the area draining even after I got home but I was kinda squeamish about it so he said ok and took the drain out but warned me I may need it reopened and drained if I am not healing well. Luckily things went ok.

Hi Connie, When I had my hysterectomy the doctor put in two drain tubes coming out of my abdomen, which were attached to these things I can never remember the name of because I took one look at them and called them grenades after that. Anyway, these grenade looking things kept filling up with fluid and had to be emptied. Once, about 3 days after the surgery, I had horrible pressure in my abdomen for several hours. It was so painful I was in tears, but the nurses assumed it was gas and had me walking (or trying to get me to walk) and giving me med for gas, which didn't help at all. Then those things began filling up with fluid so fast, I or the nurse was having to empty them about every 30 minutes. For some reason fluid really built up and wasn't draining. Then it stated draining fast! At day 5 my doctor sent me home after checking the fluid to make sure it was NOT urine (because there was so much of it), which it wasn't. But when I asked him how long those tubes stayed in he said normally they were taken out within 3 or 4 days post surgery - when the draining stopped. Mine were in for two weeks! Fluid just drained and drained and drained! It was nothing dangerous, just odd and unusual. The point is a LOT of fluid can drain out and it doesn't mean something is wrong. Especially if you had ascites and you have that fluid draining out too. Now, if it turns bloody and you start feeling weak, dizzy, feverish, etc., then that might be something to worry about. I think just keeping it as clean and dry as possible is about all you can do. Guest guest
Hi Connie I will feel better myself when you see the Doc on Friday. Seems like your leaking quite a bit lol. Remember Connie, when you had the emergency surgery, you suffered a major trauma to your whole body....your whole system....physically and mentally. It's going to take time to heal. I do hope you are resting a lot, laying down and taking it very easy. I went to the Doc and got the skin cancer cut out from my face (chin)....I now have 4 big, ugly, black stitches on my chin....almost half a face lift? lol. I had to take the sample to the lab for analysis. Doc wants me to keep the stitches in for 10 days, or until next Thursday....be sure that I'm not going out in public looking like a beat up version of Mike Tyson. Had plans for the weekend but cancelled them, I look hideous....even with the bandaid on it LOL. Oh well, when it heals...make up can work wonders. Take care Connie Hugggs Carol Constance Dickson wrote: > Thanks Pat, > This is now a yellowish tinge and tacky. How long > did it drain? How much? Guest guest
Thanx Alley.....the Doc says it wasn't melanoma....there are 3 different kinds of skin cancer. The doc thinks mine was basal cell carcinoma....which doesn't spread and is not too serious. Once it's cut out, it's hopefully cured. *praying*.
