But according to what I've been told, " high " usually refers to a count of 2 million or more; " low " usually refers to a count of under one million. My count, before starting combo, was between one and two million -- thus, mid-range, neither high nor low. Does anyone have a more precise answer for this? I am in the process od the blood work again waiting to hear results. I have been off of Combo since October 1st, 1999. It was for reasons beyond my control. I wish blood work would come back and it be gone. Remember, there is no correlation between high viral count and how much damage there is in your liver. You can have a viral count of 100,000 and already have cirrhosis. The viral count is just good to know in order to see if treatment is working or not. The LFT values are marginally above the limits. Symptoms are not noticed. I wanted to wait till PEG.IFN is available in India. Her diet is no fat-no iron- more of protien & fruits. is it ok.-regards gyani. I sure hope you can find a better doc before you have to go back on treatment. I think your viral count IS 29 million by this test. I hope I'm wrong. You might get it rechecked by the same lab that did your tests before. My viral load sky-rocketed when I stopped treatment (almost 10 times my end-of-treatment viral load test within 10 months), maybe that's what is happening to you. My doctor said it shouldn't continue to rise at that rate, and someone else wrote to me and said it would probably start dropping back to pre-treatment levels. I hope this person was right! I get rechecked next month. Connie, I KNOW you told me this before but what was your last biopsy like? (sorry, brain fog). Needless to say I really do not have much faith in this Dr. When he wrote out script for bloodwork he forgot to put quanitive on it and something else (don't remember at the moment)and I brought it to his attention and he looked at me surprised and said Thanks they would have been calling me. I also asked him if the ALT and AST was not important then why when I was on combo before with insurance from work they did weekly bloodwork for the ALT and AST. He had no answer to that. Last ALT and AST that I know was done in Nov/99 for preop bloodwork and was 148/126 (bilateral CPS, I am inoperable because of bleeding time greater than 3 times normal. Platelets were at 128 though they said was being caused by something having an aspirin like effect on my blood). I also have Congenital ITP. When checked in Sept/99 and also Viral load then was 350,000 and ALT and AST were in 50 -60 range. Before going off of the combo begining of Oct/99. I was pulled from combo because lost insurance when I was terminated from employment. For excessive absenteism.....had been pulled from work by 3 of the 6 Dr's I had. So does that mean my viral load is 29 million? Or what?
