Yep, that's right. Whole work forces are contained in our prisons. They're cheap, and they can't skip out on work!!!!

Guest guest
FYI: Phone Scam Just received this warning from Washington State School Board about a phone scam. A friend received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT & T Service technician who was conducting a test on telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine (9), zero (0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused. Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons. I have also verified this information with UCBTelecom, Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell Atlantic and GTE. Please beware. DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE. The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW. PLEASE pass this on to everyone YOU know. If you have mailing lists and/or newsletters from organizations you are connected with, I encourage you to pass on this information to them, too. After checking with Verizon they said it was true, so do not dial (9), zero (0), the pound sign # and hang up for anyone.> PLEASE PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW >>> __________________________________________________

Corporations are always looking to save a buck. Prison population is a great work force. no sick days, no malingering, no tardiness, no bogus car-breaking-down excuses. Round 'em up, put 'em in prison, and pay 'em $1.00 a day. Sounds like Krupp, Siemans, etc. back in the Nazi heydays.

Guest guest
There's just one thing I don't understand about this which makes me suspicious that the scam is a scam: how could prisoners make a large number of phone calls? - they are in prison/jail - don't you get just ONE phone call? or if you are there for a long time, limited access to phones? in any event, I'll not be dialing 90# for anyone! stinky > Wow, > Thank you. > Suzy > > > >From: stinky <stinky72001@y...> > >Reply-SSRI medications@y... > >prozacawareness@y..., prozactruth@y..., > >SSRI Medication@y... > >Subject: OT - phone scam - with the text this time! > >Date: Wed, 8 May 2002 09:37:05 -0700 (PDT) > > > >FYI: Phone Scam > > > >Just received this warning from Washington State > >School Board about a phone scam. > > > > > >A friend received a telephone call last evening from > >an individual identifying himself as an AT & T Service > >technician who was conducting a test on telephone > >lines.
