I think you're the only one I've heard say that but I bet your not the

only one. But what about your hair! That's a good one. That's got to be a

one-of-a-kind side effects though. They should have done some sort of study

on that one!

Yes it was a little weird with going to bed with

shoulder length natural curly hair and waking up in

the morning with almost waist length hair. Has been

almoat a year now and not a spiral curl or even curly

hair at all. Won't even curl with a curling

Seems I remember someone saying that the side effects were not bad the first

month then it went downhill, on one of the sites I visit. Lately I've heard

that they get better although I have not experienced this as of yet but am

still waiting and hoping, don't know seems like the headaches are getting

worse and lasting longer, YUCK am currently on week 5 Friday will start

week 6 and am hanging in there for as long as I can but sure do want to stop

some days, have absolutely no energy and the headaches are killing me.

I first would like to say that I ended my 24 weeks of combo therapy yesterday

morning....hallelujah! Of course, I'm not really feeling any better yet...in

fact, I kind of feel like I might be now going through withdrawal.

I looked at your article Sharon, with the list of side effects, and I have a

few to add. I had about 60% of all of those you listed throughout the course

of my treatment. The sides that I'd like to add are:

Swollen lips (facial, not the other kind we women have); craving of certain

foods/sweets (I imagine something like I've heard some pregnant women have);

not only Sensitivity to light (as you listed), but also to other intense

impacts to the other senses (ie, noise, movement, touch); hot skin (with or

without an increased internal temperature), and a big one...what I call

feeling " medicine-y " (where you feel pretty yucky and can really feel the

meds saturating your body). I have never heard anyone ever mention

" withdrawal " , however, and I've been on these hep c websites, like the

hep-central one, for over a year now. I'm assuming that you mean that once

you end or stop treatment you go through some sort of withdrawal....but I'm

very curious as to what you mean more specifically...now that I've just ended

treatment, and it's starting to occur to me that because I may actually feel

worse for a while, before I start feeling better because of the sudden change

to my body without the meds. Please let me know your thoughts on this (and

that goes out to every one that might have some knowledge about this concern,

not just Sharon).

I wish everyone on treatment or having symptoms, more good days than bad, and

a successful and healthy outcome.

Congratulations!!

Finished with tx. what a godsend. hope you stay in remission, i take it

you are or you may be continuing, have read that sometimes it takes up to 6

months to feel normal again but then everyone is different. I too pray for

everyone with this dreaded disease and what they go through. God Bless you

Hi !!!

I've been wondering how you were doing, I haven't heard from you since

the doc took you off for a week and you were restarting. Wow,

I really hate to hear that it just keeps getting worse. How much of the

ribavirin are you taking now? If the anemia stays a problem try to get your

doctor to cut the dosage down. Even 600mg. a day is good, and you don't

have nearly as bad side effects. Are you still managing to work?

Yes! Finally someone else whose side effects progressively got worst. I

thought I was losing my mind!

I have been on combo for 8 weeks now and the first couple of weeks weren't too

bad. I thought I had this thing licked...silly me. I was taken completely off

of treatment for 1 week (between 5 and 6) because my hemoglobin dropped to 8.9.

By far, my worst week was last week (#7). I could barely stand it...constant

vomiting, diarrhea, and the most painful muscle aches. I started feeling a

little better today and am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't get any

worst. I'm not sure if the sides were worst because I was off for a week and

then started again or if I just am a little different!

Hang in there....they keep telling me that it will get better!

I guess I was lucky I did not experience headaches or

if I did I hurt to bad everywhere else to notice

it....smile....keep your chin up........I am going to

have to go back on it next month I hope I am normal

Dear ,

No wonder you've been feeling so sick! That anemia will really knock

you down. 1200mg. is really a lot. That's usually the dose that they start

men out on. I started on 1000mg. but dropped to 800 by my 4th week. As long

as I didn't take more than 800 mg. my hgb. stayed around 10.5, which I could

live with. 8.6 is really low. That may be why you've been feeling

progressively worse. One thing good is that once the dose is reduced your

hgb should bounce back up fairly fast, although I don't know if dropping it

to 1000 will do it, but I hope so.

I've been doing ok, I just get tired more than I like. It seems like

every week to 10 days I go through a period where all I want to do is eat

and sleep, eat and sleep. I'll get up long enough to eat, but it seems like

just sitting takes too much energy, so I go back to bed. But after a day or

two I feel back to normal!

Yeah, I remember all the 'warnings' on the packaging not to freeze.

It's just that ol' brain fog at work. I have lost so many things, forgotten

so many things! I put my milk in the pantry once. I know I was the one who

did it, but I sure didn't remember it! It helps to have a sense of humor.

Hello Claudine!

I have been following all of the postings but am mainly just reading and

learning. Haven't had much to input....yet.

The doctor put me back on 1200mg Ribavirin but just found out today that my

hemoglobin is the lowest yet (8.6). Beginning tomorrow I will cut back to

1000mg. If it continues to be low, he will continue to cut me back until we

reach 600mg.

Yes, I am still working full-time. It's been really hard but I'm hanging in. I

did miss a couple of days last week but now that my home computer has been set

up to dial into work, my boss says that on days when I'm not feeling good to

just work from home. She has been so wonderful about all of this! Don't know

what I would do without her!

I thank you so much for letting me know about this site. It is absolutely

wonderful! You have been great keeping my spirits up and answering my millions

of questions! Sometimes I feel like the ONLY one in the world with this even

though I know I'm not. I have yet to meet another person face-to-face with HCV.

Also, about the pen being left out...I accidentally stuck mine in the freezer

for 12 hours! I was so incredibly upset about it that I was totally worthless

the rest of the day. When I saw the darn thing in the freezer I slammed the

door shut and couldn't believe that someone would do that. Of course, once I

calmed down, I realized I had done it without thinking. I immediately called

the pharmacist and had to throw the remainder away. Luckily, there was only one

more dose in the pen. I live in fear that I will do that again! Put lots of

sticky notes all over the door of the freezer!!

Claudine, let me know how you are doing. I think of you everyday!!

I've been wondering how you were doing, I haven't heard from you since

the doc took you off for a week and you were restarting. Wow,

I really hate to hear that it just keeps getting worse. How much of the

ribavirin are you taking now? If the anemia stays a problem try to get your

doctor to cut the dosage down. Even 600mg. a day is good, and you don't

have nearly as bad side effects. Are you still managing to work?

Hello Claudine!

I have been following all of the postings but am mainly just reading and

learning. Haven't had much to input....yet.

The doctor put me back on 1200mg Ribavirin but just found out today that my

hemoglobin is the lowest yet (8.6). Beginning tomorrow I will cut back to

1000mg. If it continues to be low, he will continue to cut me back until we

reach 600mg.

Headaches, aches and pains, don't know if one side effect is worse than

another one, we all lie in some sort of hell from time to time on this

medicine, except for a select few that don't seem to have any side

effects?? only wish I could be one of them oh well. Good luck to you,

can't imagine starting again, must have faith though. the only thing that

will help us all get through it.

Sharon the site you recommended for the side effects is great I have copied

it to give to the attorney to show the side effects of the treatment - so

they will understand better when it comes to my husbands case here. It may

help prove to them why he pleaded guilty to to the DUI instead of not guilty

since his attorney said he could beat it.

These side effects are why he couldn't always understand his probation

officer or attorney or the judge or the attorney half the time or cooperate

with them. He was confused and many other things when he went to court and

to see the probation officer and the attorney. He had appts with them and

couldn't wait until a day when he felt decent like he did last Friday when

they put him in jail at the probation office.

I know you are supposed to be weined off the Zoloft can you imagine what his

body and head have gone through going cold turkey off all that medication at

the same time - I am so proud of him to have made it this far without

completely loosing it but he is about to I have to move fast now.
