Guest guest
Hi Terry....there is a pill called imitrex (sp) that is supposed to stop the migraine before it gets bad. Only problem is it is quite expensive, but I've heard it works. Maybe you've already tried it....but I thought it was worth mentioning. Carol hepatitis and headaches Dear Sally, I have been reading the posts from this list for three years, but not participating. You are the first one, that I know of, who has said she has migraines after treatment. Did you have them before treatment? I have had constant headaches, sometimes severe migraines since two weeks into treatment. I finished 48 weeks of treatment in July of 2001. I have terrible fatigue, much worse than before treatment, and I relapsed 6 months after treatment with higher viral load than before I started. I have been going to a neurologist for a year and a half, and after all the tests showing nothing, she is treating me with oxycontin for chronic pain. I think the medicine is contributing to the fatigue, but I can't stand the constant pain. My gastro says it has nothing to do with the treatment, but I think it does, since I never had but an occasional sinus headache, which is totally different. What do you think? Tell me what if anything you have done to get rid of the migraines. Terry

Guest guest
There are several medications to help with migraines that if taken at the very onset might help. Imitrex, Maxalt, Zomig and some others. I find that Maxalt that disolves under the tongue works best for me. These are not pain relievers, but they help. I had migraines before treatment, but not often. During treatment they were awful and frequent and pain meds did very little. After treatment they continued but as the medication flushed out of my system, so did the frequency of migraines and I'm pretty much back to " normal " . Treatment can trigger lots of things. It is good that your doctor is looking for other causes. The last thing you want to do is " assume " it's caused by treatment or hep and have a problem actually be something serious that could have been prevented if only it had been investigated further. So keep an open mind about other possibilites but stay on your doc about the possibility it could be treatment too. I know, sucks huh? Good luck. Let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Terry, I had headaches, and migraines before treatment, but, like yours, they were occaisional. During treatment the migraines were constant unless I was eating Zomig for the migraine, and hydrocodone for the peripheral and residual pain. It was entirely disabling. Since stopping treatment it has improved, but the improvement has been very slow. Now the migraines are one or two a week, and usually respond pretty well to pain medication. During treatment the pain meds barely touched the pain. I hope you get some relief. Its horrible to have to live with that pain. BTW, they are saying that many migraine meds will also help severe tension headaches, and other types of headache. And finally they are agreeing that tension headaches can be every bit as painful and disabling as migraine. Oxycontin certainly contributes to fatigue and mental confusion. So does my hydrocodone. But the mental confusion is even worse when I have a severe headache, migraine or otherwise. Take care, Sally hepatitis and headaches Dear Sally, I have been reading the posts from this list for three years, but not participating. Guest guest
In my experience using Zomig, I don't have to catch the headache before it gets bad. It will usually knock it back even when I've had the migraine for a day or two. Guest guest
Carol, I don't have true migraines, only constant pain in the top of my head. Sometimes I have the pain through the eye and in the side of the head, like migraines. I have tried it. Nothing works, and everything makes me sick. I am very sensitive to medicine. I am shocked that the oxycontin is only giving me mild side effects. Thanks, Terry
Guest guest
HI.Mabye it sounds stupid but we hve a lot of indonesian people here from the former colony, when they hve a headache they tie a belt,or a piece of cloth, ribbon, around their head,on the height of the temples and then really make it fit tight and leave it there for a while. They claim it clears headaches,I don.t know if it works for migraine. This is no joke!.Willem. Guest guest
Claudine I have tried ice packs, which normally would help with a tension or sinus headache. I have tried physical therapy, accupuncture, reflexology and many medications, without success. Thanks, Terry

Guest guest
Hi Terry....my Mom had headaches like that too....never did find out what they were or what caused it. My Mom could tolerate immense pain without really complaining so it was something that was never persued by the docs. If the oxycontin is working then stick with it. Good luck finding out what is causing this. Carol Re: hepatitis and headaches Carol, I don't have true migraines, only constant pain in the top of my head. Guest guest
Hi Carol, I feel that I have tolerated immense pain in my life without complaining, but isn't that what this group is for? Is it not about support and information for people who have hepatitis c? How can I get that if I don't say what is wrong with me. I am 59 years old, lost a 22 year old son, and an infant, and have other health problems which I won't go into. The pain of those deaths was and is overwhelming. I don't see anything wrong with seeking help from the doctors for my physical problems when help is available. Suffering in silence seems to be without benefit of any kind. I don't know how old you are but the knowledge and drugs were probably not there yet when your mother needed them. Thanks for any help you and this group can give me. Guest guest
HI Terry, since you.hve tried just about everything consider consulting a chinese doctor,or herbaologist or whatever you call them.I heard that with acupuncture they can relieve pains, recently they operated a patient in shanghai, brainsurgery ,using acupuncture, the patient was fully consious, also they approach and diagnose you in a different way then a western educated doctor.Taking all those pills is not so good for yr. liver.Goodluck,Willem. Guest guest
Hi.Sorry I missed yr. post.I feel a bit lost sometimes on the group for not be able to give much help.I did several tx but I never experienced the side-effects some people on the group have or had.My Doc. never gave me any meds to combat the side.s,he told me things like go for a walk,go to the sauna,if you can.t sleep at night, sleep in the afternoon etc.etc.He did, however, kept a close watch on me.One suggestion I hve is that you call the specialists at roche or scheering, they know about the side effects of their products and it.s in their interests to give you the best advise to deal with them, also they.re free of charge.willem.
