appointment. They are supposed to be real experts. You meet with a

plan to help you. We came in with 10 years worth of medical records

which we carefully culled and put in a binder. We told them

everything. They knew all of the meds she is on. So they give her a

script for a new wonder drug and send us home. When we go to have it

filled the pharmacist tells us if she takes this new drug with the

Lithium she is already on for bi-polar she will have liver and kidney

failure, they should never be used together. So that immediately

shook my faith in them. So much for them all working together so

nothing is missed! So we took a whole day off, got up at 6:00am to be

there, had to pay a $420 co-pay for this. We came in fully prepared

and very aware of her meds, her past history and conditions. Imagine

people who are less aware or just trust that the Doctors are experts

and have all the answers. They never even asked to look at the

information we brought, even though they told us we had to bring it.

They only looked at it when we put it under their nose and said HERE,

HERE is the information you are looking for. The Psychiatrist biggest

input was your on too many medications, we need to wean you of most

of them. Didn't leave feeling very hopeful. She has another

appointment in 2 months at Hopkins University Hospital in

Baltimore Md. This we are told is supposed to be the top Migraine /

Headache clinic on the East Coast. I hope so. Thanks for listening, Dave

Oh btw sitting in the waiting room for 6 hours was a real treat for

my back. Even though I thought ahead to bring a pillow for my back. I

ended up twisted like a pretzel on the chair trying to nap while they

tended to her.

HI Dave,

I have many food/medicine intolerances as well as headaches that I never had

before. So I've been reading about how food/medicine intolerances may be at the

root of most headaches including migraines. Apparently, these intolerances

cause the immune cells that make and store immune mediators like histamine,

prostoglandins and leucotrienes, to become hypersensitive and release these

mediators much more easily (like in response to physical exercise, strong

emotion and stress). These immune mediators have vasoactive properties that

cause blood vessels to dilate too much and then your body counteracts that by

constricting blood vessals with adrenaline. The result causes headaches, which

I have experienced first hand and they are not fun.

My intolerances started when I was taking high dose Celebrex for neck pain.

Suddenly, I was getting up at night with my ears ringing and my heart

palpitating. I tried other nsaids and aspirin, but I got the same symptoms with

all of them. Since then I react to most meds and also certain foods. I'm also

intolerant of many foods, but the one that is really striking is aged cheese,

which has lots of histamine anyway. My body is awash in histamine that I can't

easily detoxify let alone deal with the additional histamine that may be in the

food I eat.

Anyway, I'm thinking that if your wife has these med/food intolerances causing

her headaches, that her symptoms would be worse if she eats foods with histamine

already in them. These include aged cheeses, marinated and pickled foods,

bananas, spinach, any kind of aged meat etc etc. So this is a test you could

do.

Also I looked up lithium and it has lots of interactions with other drugs and

has many side effects on its own, but none of them seemed to be headache.

Forgive me Sasha., this women is a social worker and a nutrition person.  As

a past severe migraine sufferer myself talk therapy IMHO is not going to work

For instance, I knew that the smell of certain perfumes gave me a headache, not

a damn thing I can do to control others from wearing it.  Therefore the only

thing that would work would be medication.

Dave, the interesting thing is I had severe disabling migraines.  I tried

everything, including Lithium as a preventative drug.  Finally my neurologiest

wanted me to go on daily narcotics..  I thought he was nuts and i refused.

Funny thing, when I went on the narcotics for my various ailments, my migraines

went from 8-15 a week to maybe 1 or 2 a year.  As your wife ever looked into

narcotics every day rather then just to treat.  Granted I used DHE, imitrex,

maxalt, been there done that.  Used them all, and they all worked for some

period or another....

I sympathize, I described my very first migraine as I was scared I was going to

die, and then I was scared that I wasnt going to.

Debra,

Oops! Sorry, Debra. I think you misunderstand what it is Dr. Radomski does

Just because she started off her career in social work, doesn't mean 30

years later she is encapsulated in that. Her world over the years has

evolved into something quite astounding and profound. She is not a

nutritionist as you suggest, but instead a Naturopathic Doctor known

world-wide for her stellar talents and abilities having everything to do

with Allergies. She created Allergy Antidotes, and has a spectacular

reputation which is Five Star. She has helped many with migraines and

everything else related to allergies and I don't doubt she can also help

Dave. How about if we let Dave decide that? Following is her description

you can find on her webpage http://www.AllergyAntidotes.com

Sandi Radomski is board certified in Social Work, a psychotherapist and a

naturopathic doctor. Her background includes teaching in the medical school

at University of Wisconsin for 8 years, doing biofeedback with pain patients

for 10 years and conducting research in psychoneuroimmunology with children

with cancer.

She is the creator and founder of the Allergy AntidotesTM system for

identifying and treating sensitivity reactions with Energy Psychology

techniques. She utilizes the application of these techniques to the

treatment of autism, weight loss, learning and behavioral problems, anxiety

and depression.

Sandi's experience in energy work includes energy psychology techniques such

as TFT (diagnostically trained), EFT, TAT, and BSFF, and chiropractic

techniques such as NAET, TBM, Biokinetics, NET and JMT. She was the first to

use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) for balancing the body's energy system

in relation to a reactive substance.

Debra,

Do high histamine foods bother you? The caveman diet would probably kill me

because I have to stay away from most fruits and vegetables. I follow the

Failsafe diet, which eliminates salicylates, amines (like histamine) and also I

cannot have any sulfurous foods like cabbage and brussels sprouts. I am better

on this diet. You can see it at

Sorry, I meant to say Dave's wife. And Debra, do give Sandi a call. It

would be great to know that she was able to be of assistance. I'll bet

anything, if you give her a chance, she will be able to help you. Keep in

mind, that what she does is alternative and not allopathic. If you are open

to that, I'll bet anything she will be able to help.

Let me know how it goes.
