Dear Connie,

I won't do narcotics, but I can testify that aqua therapy works wonders,

particularly if your muscles attrofied with treatment like mine did.

Take care,

Anne

Alley,

I was referred to a Pain Magement Dr, He suggested some type of narcotic and

aqua therapy. Less

of an impact on the joints and muscles. Or MUSKLES as my son called when he was

little. :)

well I asked to be referred but this doc said lets try this first, so I'm

gonna try this. If it doesn't work, then I'll keep asking for pain meds if

needed. Sometimes it helps just to be free of the crap for a few hours if

nothing else.

I would love to do water therapy, as long as my insurance pays for it lol.

I also had had them at the burn unit. I could not walk when they finally let

me. Just thought I was gonna jump out the bed and run a 50K. I was sadly

mistaken. Had to do therapy in bed 4 times a day . When they got me ready to

stand this one nurse stood in front of me and I wondered why. Well I found out

was because my legs gave way. Spent 4 months there never ever want to go

back. I was to be sent to Houston TX by hellicoptor if no room at Tampas.

burn unit. I wonder some time if I had been sent to TX maybe I not have Hep C.

I do not like narcotics either. I never went back to

him.......................Take Care, Connie

Hi alley,

I took Elavil for a while, the lowest dose, along

with Vioxx, and it really worked wonders. I just took

the Elavil at night - and it was prescribed for

chronic pain, not as antidepressant. The doc said the

reason it worked for depression AND chronic pain was

because it worked by inducing a deep stage 4 sleep.

She also had me take a muscle relaxer at the same time

for several weeks straight. Whatever, or however, it

worked great, as long as I was on it. I just had a

problem with some side effects. Hopefully it will help

you. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting off the

muscle relaxers I take daily since the chiropractor,

along with rehab and therapy, has done so much good.

I'm not 100% better, but about 95%, and I can live

with that - as long as I do my part and keep up with

the strengthening exercises. That's the hard part. I

still say, with how you are feeling WORSE off

treatment that you should get checked for

cryoglobulinemia. Good luck!

Alley you hit the head on the nail. The pain we get does not show to others

what we are going through. Just being free of the pain is such an enticer. You

don't care what it is. Hope you can get in the aqua therapy....Good Luck,

I was given the Elavil also 100 mgs for chronic pain but was for Fibromyalgia

(is that spelled right it doesn't look right), and was told the same thing.

Also, was told the stage 4 sleep is when the body works on fixing itself.

<<I wonder some time if I had been sent to TX maybe I not have Hep

C. I do not like narcotics either. >>

If you mean you got hep c from receiving blood, then I do not think

it would matter where you got it. All of America's blood was tainted

pretty bad for a while, from what I could read. now this doesn't mean

all the blood was bad, just that I would guess that your chances of

getting hep c tainted blood are just about as good in one town as in

another. Houston is big town and lots of druggies donate blood in

the cities. Besides, most people didn't know they had it before the

test came out in 89/90 around that time. And, there's a more

sensitive test for hep c now and they are retesting blood banks and

finding even MORE tainted blood there with the new test.

We can all look back and say " what if " , but it's too late now to

worry about that. What matters is moving on with our lives, not

feeling guilty for mistakes we made or situations we had no control

over.

We be heppers :) A sad way to help pioneer a new age isn't it? But I

think my stars it isn't cancer or HIV or MS, etc.

Just my way of looking at it.

Thanks Claudine! :)

Well I was exactly like this before treatent so it's not anything

new. I've been this way for years and I'm just to the end of my rope

with it.

You know how with the every day stuff, I can deal with it for a

while, and if it was just one day a week I could handle it, wouldn't

be worth bothering with. So part of my problem is, after being free

of most of this crap for the 48 weeks I was on treatment, I am

dreading living my life aching like this every day.

You don't know how bad you are till you don't hurt for a while then

you say wow!

(Hey Im at work, not doing anything haha, catching up on email)

I'm glad it works for you and gives me some hope too. But what do I

do inbetween, while I'm waiting for the Elavil to work. hmmm..

(thinking out loud). Maybe I'll call the doc back and ask for some

therapy to go along with it, SOMETHING you know?

I'm one of those who like to be doing something about a problem, not

just waiting. Patience is a virtue, but not one of MY virtues hahahha.
