Guest guest
No, actually it is not odd. Quite a few folks, like myself, exercise and eat a mostly healthy diet but still have a slightly higher level of total cholesterol (greater than 200). More importance is given to the ratio of what kind of cholesterol and not as much on total cholesterol. If HDL or " good fats " are high (which is desirable) then total cholesterol may be higher without causing alarm. Genes play a big role as to the total cholesterol and the ration of LDL to HDL. Statins are used to reduce overall cholesterol levels but those can be hard on the liver. So all of these aspects need to be considered and the best source is to ask your doctor for the specifics.
