There is a good chance it would be ok to wait. A lot of people work on treatment but I know it's rough, and at least if you were finished with the double payments you wouldn't have the stress of that hanging over your head. It's not bad to have a job to distract you from what you are going through, but your focus should be on yourself and getting well during that time. Also, by waiting a little you might be able to take the peg intron instead of this lousy three times a week stuff that doesn't work too well. At least post-pone a decision until you get your biopsy results. I attend two live support groups and moderate on one large one online (delphi hep c). i think we may just wait, depending on what the biopsy reveals, until we aren't paying double house payments so I don't have to worry about that.. by then,.. IF i needed to quit work, it wouldn't be so hard on us financially. Guest guest Posted March 18, 2000 Report Share Posted March 18, 2000 , two years ago I was so stressed out (just a lot of life going on) I got the flue. Took 6 months to get over. So the doc started doing all kinds of test found the hepc and a few other things. It took me 2 years to make up my mind to go on the combo. I am glad I did it is just not to fun. But I can do anything one day at a time. My 13year old grand daughter just went in to rehab for drugs, I am glad she is getting help. I didn't even know she had a problem. This is no free ride-you will pay a price, financially & physically. But what is important are your biopsy results. If they are bad you may not want to wait. If you are in an early stage, with minimal/mild damage you could wait if you wanted. HepC can be deadly, but more often it is not. Generally it is the HRQL (health related quality of life) that suffers more. There are things you can do to counteract that. As for disablity-people you don't get shit from disability, and it takes ten years (I'm exaggerating of course) to get that from them! In the end, it is your decision & no one else's. So I'll just take it one step at a time. I have a lot of symptoms and barely make a work week. I dunno how I could work if i felt worse on tx. And I can't at this time afford not to work. Maybe sometime in the future. Guest guest Posted March 24, 2000 Report Share Posted March 24, 2000 Dear Alleypat: Regarding working on combo, I think a lot depends on your age and general condition...I am 52 and work 3 days a week....my GOOD days! I work Monday, have a shot monday eve.....am home and worthless Tuesday...Wednesday go to work and feel " good " , then have a shot Wednesday eve and feel poor Thursday but am home....Friday/Saturday same. Could not possibly work on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays.....sleep in on those mornings.....but I know people in their 30's and 40's who manage to work full time.....Have been on combo for 5 1/2 months now and virus was undetectable at 3 months! I would suggest taking some vacation time when you start treatment...the first week or two, if you can.
