Guest guest
Tatezi, thank you so much for your information. I also called my pharmacist, who did not have a clue. I am the ONLY one in this LARGE pharmacy that is on Rebetron. Then, I called my doctors office. The nurse told me that Scherring told her only 8 hours the interfuron could be unrefrigerated. The fluid is still clear, and I am extremely hesitant to throw away. Wrote an email to Schering==lets see what they say. your support means tons to me. Thank you for your response. Guest guest
Oh yeah, something I can finally answer to help someone. I'm so glad I can finally give back. I left my pen out one night (about 13 hours) and panicked. Ofcourse I only had two shots left in it so it wasn't quite so traumatic but still. I called the liver guy and he had no clue so I called the pharmacist who also had no clue. But I use a great little neighborhood pharmacist ... and he called Schering Plough. Apparently up to 14 hours is safe...unless it is in extreme heat (like in the sun, on a radiator, etc.) I just stuck it back in the fridge and did the next shot on schedule with no problems. Whew, I know the panic you are feeling, but you are okay this time. I don't know how long it can actually be left out of the fridge because my pharmacist only checked on my situation, but it sounds like you are dealing with the same amount of time as I was. So just pop them back in the fridge and go on with life. Tatezi > HELP!!! > I left pens out of the refrigerator last night. > They were out for about 12-13 hours. Are they ruined??? Has anyone > else done this??
Guest guest
If the liquid inside is still clear, it should be ok. I've done that before too haha. You can also write Scherring (www.rebetron.com) and ask them / Alley alleypat@... ----------------------------- My ICQ#:12631861<br> http://members.icq.com/12631861 12631861@... -------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
No, you are definitely not the first person to do this! I am pretty sure it is still good. Maybe someone here will have a better answer, but I would call Schering. I do know that when I was on treatment they told me it had a shelf life of I THINK 2 weeks at room temperature. (I was questioning the interferon being shipped by Federal Express.) I think the color is also important, it should be clear, not cloudy. Guest guest
Hi Tatezi, I left mine out once and called Schering Plough and they sent me a new one. They shipped to my pharmacy and I picked it up in a couple of days. It can't be out very long if it has been used I have all the data they sent me at the time some where, seem to remember after eight hours if it has been used, it won't hurt you but it starts to loose it's effectiveness as I recall. Hope this helps Bob Re: HELP! Left the Pen Out of Frig > Oh yeah, something I can finally answer to help someone. Guest guest
Hi all and thank you so much for all of your help. I called Shering Plough to see if the " pen " would still be good after being out for 13 hours. I had to enroll in their " Be in Charge " progam before I got any answers--- oh well. Anyway, the nurse I spoke to said the pen is good outside the frigerator for 24 hours, as long as it is less than 84 degrees out. I also found out that they " recommend " to keep the riba pills refrigerated also. I did not know that! Learn something new every day. I would like to take this opportunity to again thank everyone for their contribution to this site. It is extremely helpful! In fact, my lips have split since on treatment, and i did not even associate it with the treatment. It is very painful and doesn't want to go away. I will try the B vitamins. Thank you all so much Staying Positive, Lora
Guest guest
Lora Thanks you helped me find out that we have done the right thing by keeping the Ribavarin in the refrig this whole time. Didn't know that the company suggested that till saw your email. Hope your doing well. Winne
Guest guest
Winnie, I am glad I was able to help. How is your husband doing? I think of you two often. Did anything ever come of your husband's mistreatment in jail last year? You have been in my prayers. Staying positive, Lora
Guest guest
Lora He is doing well he begins the Peg Intron A in a few days to help with the PCT he has in remission right now. We have put the mistreatment in jail under the rug at the moment trying to keep him less stressed but we are going to deal with it soon and get a few attorneys ideas on it. We have to find out how long we have to press charges so we don't let that run out before we do something about it. We don't know what the statue of limitations is on it and need to check it out. Thanks for thinking of us we do the same with you and everyone in this group. The support is great. is always asking who we heard from and how everyone is doing. His eyes are so bad from the treatment and if he reads to long he gets one of those bad headaches so that is why everyone hears from me here on the list instead of him. Everyone is in our prayers as always - hope this finds you well. Winne
