Guest guest
Hi Deb I haven't been through a review yet-my award paper said it would happen in 5-7 years. I don't really know why some people get reviewed sooner than others. I have a friend who is 46, and has some of the same disabilities as I, plus others I don't have, and she's already had a review-her award letter said it would be three years for her, and sure enough-it was three years. I'd like to know what they base the reviews on-if some of it is age, and to what extent we're disabled, I've always been curious. I'm almost 56, so I guess with the way my back is messed up, even after surgery, I'm not re-trainable, or even employable. My job was phased out anyways. Have you had a review yet? I don't even know what I'm disabled for-I mean the exact disease/condition. It didn't take heardly any time for it to be approved, so my dr. must have kept good records. I just see a pain dr. every month now, he doesn't have my original records, so I can't ask him. Guess I shouldn't worry about it, I haven't gotten any better over these 5 years. I'll probably get a review letter in the mail in the next year or so. Do you think it's possible that you get reviewed sooner if there's a chance that you'll get better, or does age play into it? Thanks for letting me vent-there's so much I'd like to find out, and don't know where to look. Take care Jeannie ________________________________

Guest guest
Jeannie Absolutely your age plays into it...I doubt that you will be reviewed. i have been on benefits for 5 years, became disabled at 37, and doc checked the box that said improvememnt unlikely. When you do get the short review it is imperative that you know exactly what you were approved for and that you NOT introduce anything new on the short form when you receive it. The only time that you would write anything in is if you see the diagnosis and they are completely wrong. Then, you have no choice, but otherwise, fill it out, do not put any remarks on there that would require a human to look at it. Deb  Hi Deb I haven't been through a review yet-my award paper said it would happen in 5-7 years. You have given out much good advice and seem to really know your stuff. I have to write this to let you know I am so disappointed in you now and it's all because of this post where you obviously were ashamed to give God the credit by leaving out the o in Godsend. I'm sure that's a new trend so as not to " offend " anyone. I would suggest you don't use the word at all if you feel you must treat his name that way. Believe or don't but please don't sit on the fence. I must admit I'm not politically correct nor do I ever want to be but I especially don't won't to deny my God or his power and love in my life. Believe or don't but please don't sit on the fence. I must admit I'm not politically correct nor do I ever want to be but I especially don't won't to deny my God or his power and love in my life. If it had not been for God, I wouldn't be typing this today or much more for that matter. Love ya Deb but disappointed. [PainInTheNeck- Back] Re: . Deb Can you get on or apply for MEDICAID? Guest guest
Hi Jane, yes I am very aware of the " Nation of the offended " and yes I am very grown up, so much so that I can speak the truth as I see and feel it without conviction. You may not agree with me but I also learned tolerance of other folks and their opinions. I just don't like someone being both ways. Which way do you believe? Words don't hurt me either Jane, but some folks on here are hungry for a God to believe in and need to hear (without the left out letters) and see where other people have gotten their strength and hope. That is extremely important to me because of my health problems and my faith in God is what has kept me sane and full of hope. So that is the basis of my post. No offense to anyone, I just think folks could use the encouragement. [PainInTheNeck- Back] Re: . Deb Can you get on or apply for MEDICAID? Are you on that???? Get on it. ITs not that hard. Guest guest
Obviously my post pricked somewhat. Just where would I go to research that subject Deb? Never heard of it in my life and I certainly don't think God's holiness depends on a piece of paper or a post on a website. Much much bigger than either one. But alot of folks may not understand your reasoning behind doing it either and might take it the same way I did. You assume as well that no one knows what they are talking about and that only you do. Again, I am disappointed. Didn't mean for this to be ugly, only to bring it to your attention how it might be taken and I only wish for people to be encouraged and find hope, love and healing through the Lord. Sooo many people need to hear of what he has done for many of us and what he can and will do for them as well. It's all about the love Deb. Let's just keep it that way. [PainInTheNeck- Back] Re: . Deb Can you get on or apply for MEDICAID? Are you on that???? Get on it. ITs not that hard. It goes by income. Almost everyone i know in my state is on that. Once you get on that, it pays for doctor visits. Then you can try different doctors. it even covers chiropractic type doctors.Free medicines etc. I was on it before. I applied for medicaid based on disablility. I had to fill out a five page form, list my medical history, what the injury was etc. I qualified as disabled. But that is state not federal like ssi.But ususally it goes on income. > > > ...How does someone go 2, 3, or 4 years with out income living on their own...... > > Couch surfing or living outside, depending on food banks and sometimes food stamps, were the methods I have used for years at a time. Being able to make and keep friends helps more than anything, but it puts intense strain on relationships. > > SSI denied me with the reason that chronic migraines and occipital neuralgia don't limit me sufficiently, and that I can work in retail sales. This is a laughable reason that should never have been suggested, but I don't know how to fight that without a lawyer. As the lawyer I talked to said that I need extensive RECENT documentation from doctors regarding my disability in order for the lawyer to take my case, I didn't appeal in time. > > I'm brainstorming as to how I can get regular doctor visits before and during the social security process, but I don't even have $5 to pay a sliding scale clinic, and the 'care' I've gotten for migraines at such clinics has been atrocious. > > > > > > > > > > > Darn...
