Dear Group

but it is not the flu-- all my organs and bones and muscles are in pain and I

can hardly move--

I did not get out of bed yesterday until 3 in the afternoon

My fingers are swollen and cant make a fist that well--I have a DR app on thrus

and hopefully I can make it

I'm sorry to hear you are in this much pain and can't get proper pain

medication. Until you can get properly medicated here are two things

you can try. One is Ice Packs. Today my Thoracic region and right

shoulder blade was killing me. I sat in my recliner with an ice pack

wrapped in a lightweight dish towel. I also meant to take my

afternoon pain meds a Vicoden and a muscle relaxer. Well after about

10-15 minutes the pain came down to a much more bearable level to the

point where I could take a nap. After I awoke I realized I never

took my meds. so the ice and relaxation alone did the job. Another

thing that works is exercise. Now I can hear you all saying Yeah

right. I went to PT about a week ago. I was in pain at about a level

7-8. I thought she would go easy on me. Instead she told me to try

the exercise bike and treadmill. Well at first for 5 minutes it hurt

more, but then it got easier. When I was done with 15 minutes on the

treadmill and 15 minutes on the recumbent bike my pain level had

dropped down to about a 3. She told me that it was because the

endorfins (sp?) kicked in from my mind. A runners high. She asked me

at my next appointment how long it lasted. I told her about 4 hours.

I really did work. But doing just a walk didn't cut it. You need to

get your heart rate up. In my case to around 115 BPM. So until you

can get proper meds these are worth a try. And I do understand the

alone and sad. you are depressed, maybe clinically depressed. I was

on several different anti-depressants over the years. Most work

until a point and then stop. Currently I'm on a new one called

Pristiq. It has really helped me. I was VERY depressed before the

change. It has really made a difference. Keep on posting. Dave

Dear Annie,

I really hope that the doctor can figure out what's going on with you. You

could have any number of things--infection (even tick-born in your area) or

arthritic auto-immune thing or who knows what? Please make sure he does a

thorough exam and orders blood work (I know you will, forgive me, I'm letting my

maternal side out.) If he doesn't have a clue, make sure he refers you to an

infectious disease guy and/or a rheumatologist.

Please keep us informed of your progress.

Best Regards,

Rochelle
