Hi Patty,

I have serious problems with the sun due to being really fair skinned, and never tan -- only burn, due to my Irish parents. Now I have Lupus, so I break out in rashes from the sun. However, I read in a couple of my 'Alternative Medicine' books, that a full 3 minutes of direct sun is all it takes to get the amount of Vitamin D necessay to make everything else work in sync. I get that first thing in the mornings taking care of my patio plants. My Internist also agreed that's all it takes -- 3 minutes per day, and that amount doesn't cause me any problems.

Blessings,

Martha Murdock

pointed out to me that some people with connective tissue disease have trouble with the sun, specifically if they have lupus, and wanted to point out that for some women suffering from these diseases, the article on the importance and benefits from sunlight would not apply. She is right. How many of you have trouble with the sun? How many of you have had a diagnosis of lupus? Please let me know. I have never found sunlight to be a problem for me personally. Please post if you have had trouble, and share your experiences. Thanks!Patty

I only had trouble with the sun during the years that the implants were in my body. I would get a rash across my chest that would stay and stay all through the summer and being in the sun. Now, after explant, nothing.

Last summer I was ot about 5 min. in the sun at the

beach and got a severe headache and my whole body

turned red. I was to scared to get back in the sun the

rest of the summer. I had my implants out in December

and have been to the beach about 5 times I hope to

continue to enjoy the outdoors because I love it.

All you 'Sun Worshipors' will pay more for those tans than they will be worth. As a BI survivor, who could finally tan, I have 3-4 inch scars from having to remove one tiny sun-cancer. Those of us with lupus-like illnesses and/or thyrhoid illnesses can have the tiniest skin cancer become an ulcer that will not heal, and have to have skin grafts, etc. ---It's not worth it! In time or $$$a!!!

Hugs to all,

Dana,

This is great news! At least we know it can clear up. So now can you spend time in the sun and not be bothered at all?

I had McGahn smooth saline implants 14 moths before I

started having major problems. I had them out 5 months

later.

Patty,

I usually go out about 10:00 and stay until 1:00 and

then go back out about 2:00 and stay until about 4:00

or 4:30. The least little sign I am getting a headache

I will come in. I think I am just scared that I will

relive that situation last year. It's funny I never

was overly concerned about my health before

implants...now I worry about everything. Even though I

feel tons better since the explant there are query

little pains sometimes that I never had before. My

lymph nodes in my neck are still reactive, even if I

get a little cold.

Martha,

You are absolutely right. I am not a big advocate of

the sun...I have five kids that love the beach and

love to be outside. I use 45 spf sunscreen. I too

just had a tiny place removed from my leg 2 weeks ago.

The biopsy came back as basal cell carcinoma. I have

to have a little more work done on it. I am very

careful to use sunscreen on me and my children. Thanks

for your response.

I had the "old fashioned" silicone implants in for about 5 years before I noticed there was a correlation. I was young when I got them, 20, and an air-head-sex-goddess-sun-worshipper-dumb-blonde. I had those implants in for 20 or so years. I swear, the day I went home from the hospital after the explant, the first thing that I noticed was that my chest felt sooooooooooooo smooth. I still go out in the sun quite a bit, but I don't spend my whole day out there, I just don't care to anymore. Anyhow, now that I am a 42 year old sex goddess, I am not as ravishing in my corrective swim wear. ha
