Guest guest
Dear Winnie, I don't know much but I do know that a lot of things can make these tests show false positives. A more sensitive test should be done which can prove he did not take illegal drugs. Your lawyer should be able to get this straightened out and get him his medication. Have you called his doctor? Threaten to sue and call local news papers about them refusing him his medications. Guest guest
I am an LPN and used to work in an office that did hundreds of unrine drug screens. The vicoprofen is a narcotic pain reliever and shows positive for opiates. Any time a person takes narcotics prescribed by a Dr, all you need to do is get written verification from your Dr or show the prescription bottle to prove that it has been prescribed LEGALLY. I hope this info helps. Good luck! Amy
Guest guest
Dear Winnie, I know you are worried about him but one thing to NOT worry about is the combo treatment. He will not have missed long enough to really set him back. Many doctors will stop treatment for a week or two sometimes when blood counts get too low, and this will be less time than that. I'll be waiting to hear from you on how he is doing, and the results from this. I hope the newspapers come down hard on them. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I know they hear lots of fake stories from people, but that is not a reason to quit listening! What a nightmare for both of you. Don't forget to take care of yourself during all of this. Guest guest
Thank you all for the suggestions the newspapers is where I will have to go next. They are still refusing him his medication at the jail and he is getting worse and worse and the skin disease that he had has come back now also on his hands so he is contagious to the rest of the inmates there - they won't give him any bandaids to cover the blisters that pop open on his hands now again like before the treatment. The doctor is putting together something saying that his medication could cause the false positive on the test since it is an experimental drug still. Hoping that happened by the end of the day today and then the attorney will take it to the judge and then they will release him hopefully tomorrow. The attorney seemed to think that it could be done real fast once the doctor got the letter faxed to him - he hoped it might happen today but didn't since my appt wasn't until 1:00 this afternoon - hoping to get my poor sick abused husband back home here tomorrow and get him cleaned up and to the doctor or hospital to have documented the shape he is in when he does get out - from not getting his medication and then the county or city better look out because I am after them. It is supposed to be against the law not to give him his medicine. He is still sleeping on the floor getting worse and worse. Keep thinking the next phone call I get will be to tell me that he had to be taken to the hospital at least then he would have a bed. I will let you know tomorrow what has happened and thanks again for your suggestions and support. The papers sound like a good idea for the next step. I never thought I would be calling a jail house for 3 days trying to get medication to my husband that is sitting there for him and was an hour after they took him in on Friday with the proper paper work from the doctor so they could give it to him. Just hoping all of this works by tomorrow. He missed his first injection today of the inteferon and 3 days of the ribivarin. The stress of all this is enough to kill him - its one of the worse things for this disease and treatment. Thanks again!! Winne
Guest guest
GO TO THE NEWSPAPERS ASAP and to all TV stations and tell them this. Pinellas County Fl has got into so much trouble for denying meds and things along this line that maybe it will help. Several people have died while in custody. The Newspapers here that carry the stories are the St. sburg Times and The Tampa Tribune call them maybe they could help you. I am sorry I am not there or I would look up the #'s for you but they should be on computer. St. sburg, Fl is St. sburg Times and Tampa, FL is the Tampa Tribune.....Good luck...They have web sites also --- RLWINNE@... wrote: > HELP > > Everyone - sending this out to all of you in hopes > that you can help me with > this problem I have here. Guest guest
Claudine and Virginia Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers at least someone out there is listening to me. My husband is still not receiving his medication in jail its been 5 days now. The doctor faxed a bunch of information to the attorney and included something about stress and this disease being the worse thing for it along with paper work where we had talked about this probation officer not liking him anyway because he was sick and the way she was treating him since we had talked to him about it. Hoping tomorrow is the day since I didn't get him back today. I know the legal trail can take sometime but this is an emergency now since the skin disease called porphyria is back in full force and his hands are covered with blisters again that could spread to other inmates. Now the doctor there is still refusing him his medicine and trying to give him something that was not prescribed for him by his own doctor. He doesn't want to take anything that will harm his liver more so he is not taking it. It sounds to me like it is an antibiotic for his hands which will not work since we had a doctor prescribing this for him and his hands never cleared up with them and they only hurt his liver more that went on for 4 years. Thats when we finally found out he had chronic hepatitis C and started on the treatment. The Rebetron treatment was the only thing that got rid of this porphyria he had which was gone and all healed up before this all started and had been for at least 4 months now we will have to start all over on that again. You know if he had killed someone or hurt someone or robbed a bank I could face up to all of this but he didn't do anything and that makes him feel even worse. I'm giving my attorney one more day and then going to the other avenues you have clued me in on and finding a new attorney that has some compassion maybe and won't leave me hanging all day long expecting some results and not hearing or getting any. Attorneys are wierd people I have decided - as long as their lives are going ok you can go to hell. Thanks again to both of you I feel like I may have someone in my corner here and need that very much. Hugs to you and keep those prayers coming we need all that we can get. Thanks for being here!! Guest guest
Dear Winnie, I find it so hard to believe that this is going on. What possible reason could they have to withold his medication! I hope you called the newspapers. Even a phone call from a reporter might wake them up, and if not, this still needs to be brought to the attention of the public. Good luck with the attorney. Is the doctor cooperating as much as he can? I hope we hear some good news from you tomorrow. Guest guest
Winne, My heart goes out to you, what a bunch of crap. I believe the vicoprofen would show up positive on a drug UA because its a narcotic, I would think that if you had a your Dr. write a letter or something to the effect that your husband needs his medicine they can't withhold that either, has to have visitors doesn't he, give him the shot and pills then and threaten to sue, I would call my health care provider , they should be able to help alot with this. Guest guest
Winne that's awful.. where are you? I'd send an email or call Schering immediately, your doctor immediately and the city council or your rep immediately. I got arrested a few months ago with my husband for a past due traffic ticket we both had forgotten about years ago. We had a head light out so they pull us over, next thing we know we are in jail calling someone to come bail us out. Had I been on treatment or sicker with the hep I'd really have been up the creek. When they arrest you tho you have to fill out a form that asks if you are hep pos.. i chickened out and said no. I was afraid of what they would do if i said yes. Perhaps I should call and ask. Good luck with your husband. Let us know what happens please alley/ ICQ 12631861 alleypat@... http://www.flash.net/~alleypat
Guest guest
Hello all and thanks again for all your thoughts and ideas!!!!! My husband is still in jail on the floor not getting a proper diet for the hep or the fluids he needs or any of his medication tomorrow will make it a week. I tried to get in to see him today and they wouldn't let me in. Going to try again on Saturday the next visitation day. Now they are giving him medication from the jail doctor and won't tell him what it is they say it is none of his damn business so he is not taking it because we all know what some of these medications can do to your liver and now that his is going backwards again he is afraid of it. I have decided that I don't care who I piss off now that I am going to persue this until someone in authority tells me that he can not take the rebetron in jail. We live on the Gulfcoast here in Mississippi I have a city councilman and his attorney working on this also now along with attorneys of my own they have been on it since 30 minutes after he was arrested and not much has been done yet. I have called the families to rally here in a few days and hoping to get his medication to him soon. Waiting to hear when his hearing is before the judge and getting another attorney on Monday that is alittle more aggressive about getting his medication to him. Doctors - Attorneys- and Judges sure do have a high opinion of themselves and their time - I'm glad that I am just an average person trying to make a living and live among the people that at least have alittle compassion for others and their time. What a mess - I'm wore out but will keep on until I have him on his medication don't care what it takes now or who I piss off. I'm rambling and not making much since good thing I work nights so I have been home here during the day to handle as much of this as I can - can't imagine what it would be like if I worked days I would have had to miss alot of work so far I only missed one night. We need the money bad since his dissibility has been denied him for the 2nd time. He is really starting to feel bad about himself now and that is not good either. Thanks again for all your ideas and encouragement and support - wanted to update you even if this doesn't make a whole lot of since at least I feel better and that is what this is all about. Keep those ideas prayers and good thoughts coming please we need all that we can get. Thanks alley never thought about getting ahold of the schering corp. Will let you know who our representatives are here at next posting. I get off work at 2am and keep my computer off the rest of the time for the phone to be clear for any news to help him. I have never had so many calls in my life but maybe one of them will work here soon. You all take good care of yourselves as I wish my husband was able to do right now. Stay positive!! Guest guest
Connie You are so right about the government - this system sucks!!!! The media helped me get the treatment back to my husband as I already stated but more has to be done. Does any one out there care if I print off some of your emails I have here from you all about the troubles and side effects you are having to give to the attorney to show them to the judge to show them that it is true what my husband and I have been trying to tell them about this disease and the treatment and the side effects - no one seems to be interested in that part of it and that is the whole thing he is sick is jail not just in jail. Thanks ahead of time - I'm on a crusade here and maybe it will help some of the other inmates get the treatment if they have been denied because the jail doctor laughed at my husband and said nobody had ever been able to get that treatment before at the jail - well they are now! Trying to look at all my email for the last week and catch up here thanks again to eveyone out there you are like my little family out there and I sure am getting lonely here with out my husband - need all the friends I can get - your the best.
