Hi Annie

CMT and " gaining weight " are nearly synonymous! It's a real paradox,

people with CMT should not carry extra weight, but people who have CMT

normally GAIN weight! The conundrum comes primarily from the reduced

activity CMT'ers normally are forced to endure by weak ankles and

injuries. The time that was once spent doing fun activities, or yard

work etc. is traded for time siting, reading, or watching the " tube "

etc., which starts the obesity spiral. As we gain weight we become

despondent, depressed and feel deprived, all of which usually causes

us to EAT! So we start the diets, the ones we read about, the ones

friends tell us about, even the ones the Doctor recommends, We watch

" " to get pumped up emotionally, but are not allowed to

do anything while standing per doctors orders, so we sit and watch

him rock to the oldies! We try swimming until we begin to grow webs

between our fingers and toes. We sit in our chairs and try to do the

things we watch " Austin " doing on the family channel each

morning. All of which simply makes us enen more depressed, so we eat!

The diets are wonderful, but with out physical activity to burn off

the calories we either eat what a bunny eats and are miserable, and

have little in life that makes us happy, OR we eat trying to just

maintain the weight our body decides it is most comfortable at, which

is overweight, and then in addition to our CMT restrictions, we have

the added restrictions of being obese! Our motto becomes " LIFE

SUCKS, THEN YOU DIE! "

The answer; is do what ever makes you happy, and what ever you can

do, never give up. If you want to loose the weight you can, BUT at

what cost, if you just want to be happy, and say to hell with

dieting you can, BUT at what cost...........
