Guest guest
Hi Larry, What you discribe could be totally unrelated to your neck and would just be a swallowing problem that a gastroenterologist should look at. These type of symptoms could be caused by acid coming up from the stomach (acid reflux)and irritating the esophagus. If this is the case, you may be already be having some heartburn. On the other hand, sometimes a degenerating disc in the neck protrudes more to the front than into the spinal canal in the back. Since the esophagus is right there the bone spurs from the disc will disturb swallowing. A simple xray would probably show if this is the case. Either way I guess it means a trip or 2 to the doctor. (I don't know about you but I am way tired of going to doctors) Take care, Rochelle ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Larry, One other thing. A protruding disc is not necessarily ruptured. My discs are protruding but they are flattened and degenerated with bone spurs, not ruptured. I think they're too tough and dehydrated to be ruptured or herniated. There has to be fluidy stuff inside for that to happen. Guest guest
yes, Larry, it could be cervical related. I've read several places on the Internet where neck injury can cause the neck muscles to become constricted, and that means the throat/esophageal area as well. Do you have any breathing problems? Like wheezing? Or have you had bronchitis or lung problems? Strep throat? If it were me walking in your shoes, I'd be asking the doc for an inhaler and see if that helps. if it does, then it's more likely your lungs. If it does not help, then I'd ask for a specialist or have a doc take a look down your throat with those itty-bitty cameras they use. :0 Debbie Dahl Oklahoma
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Thanks for the replies to my question. My problem seems to be a little bit improved, but still there. I'm going to insist on having an MRI done after the first of the year to see just what is wrong now in my back and my neck. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all. Hope that you will all have as much of a PAIN FREE Christmas as possible. Take care and be safe.
