Guest guest
Hello all. I've been on Celebrex for about three weeks now. It was recommended and prescribed by my MDA clinic neurologist, Dr. Day. He told me it wasn't a drug to take occasionally...that if I wanted its full affect I'd have to take it daily. He stated it would help reduce inflammation that causes stiffness and pain in CMT. After a week, I began to feel like a new person! At first I wasn't sure what was helping, Celebrex or increased vitamin E, so I eliminated the vit E for awhile and still felt great. For some reason it seems to be helping more with my legs and feet, but hey.....I can't walk with my hands anyway. I'm walking and moving around so much better. I've already lost over 5 pounds because I was able to decrease the Elavil and Neurontin, which seemed to cause an increase in my appetite. Increased activity and decrease intake equals weight loss! I gain 15 to 20 pounds in the five months or so, since my CMT 'came out', so to speak. Careful with the drug....it is similar to Vioxx and persons taking Vioxx had a sharp increase in heart attack, but I believe this was among a population of people already at risk for heart attack. I have low blood pressure, low cholesterol, and I'm only slightly overweight. You may want to ask your doctor about it. FYI - I have a very low tolerance for most over-the-counter pain meds related to stomach problems, but I'm doing okay with Celebrex so far.
