Find this article interesting since I've read in numerous places that caffeine

is not good for those of us with liver disease.

But a downfall of caffeine for those who take supplements is that it cancels out

most vitamins and herbs that are consumed while the caffeine is still in our

systems.

News - Sodas Raise Cancer Risk, U.S. Study

Finds

(This is not what the article was mainly about, but this part was particularly

interesting. I'm curious to know why this is so? I'm a big caffeine drinker, not

so much for the caffeine per se, tho the bowel movement benefit is a plus :) ...

Sodas Raise Cancer Risk, U.S. Study Finds

A team at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease

studied people with a high risk of liver problems and found those who drank more

caffeine had fewer liver abnormalities.

They surveyed 5,944 adults at high risk for liver damage because of heavy

drinking, hepatitis infection, iron overload or obesity.

The more coffee they drank, the more likely they were to have normal liver

function, the researchers found.

" These results warrant further study, " said Dr. Everhart, who helped lead

the study.

How does it do that?

I have no idea but I'm assuming caffeine right before or right after taking

suppliments. Caffeine (and nicotine) have always been known to destroy the

vitamin C in your body and heavy caffeine drinkers or smokers should take small

doses of C throughout the day. Caffeine (and nicotine as she is sitting dying

for a cigarette tonight after an awful day at work) are contraindicated when

taking supplements. I store these pieces of information in my head and would

have to go searching for references if you really want to know.

But I do know that since kicking caffeine (shit I used to take my supplements

with coffee), I have felt a whole lot better.

I'll be sure to eat more fruits. Ascorbic acid bothers me, so I can't really up

my intake of pills as this is how they usually do it and for some reason the man

made/pills bother me more than natural and then sometimes just depends,

sometimes I can't even do the fruits.

Caffeine is my other vitamin C :) I normally have such low energy that without

it and my antidepressant, which perks me up, I'd be jello all day.
