Mine lasted about 10-15 minutes. It too seemed weird, that I worked

so hard and was so nervous for something that went by so quick. I

had an advantage, my Judge told me I won.

I believe with her experience she saw something in the judge that

made her feel you won. Why else would she say such a thing to set

you up for such disappointment if she was wrong. I'd ask her

outright what did she base her answer on. But I'd bet it's from

experience. I hope she's right, if so congratulations are due. Dave

When I had mine the judge issued a decision on the spot.

There is an actual term for this but I can't remember what it is.

My attorney was told, at that time, that I had won.

Did you hear the judge say he had heard enough? Did he say

anything to your attorney after he said that?

Your lawyer has no reason to keep you if they do not believe you will win

!!

You do not need to trust them.. Just relax knowing they want to keep you !!

Best Wishes

I had my SSD hearing on the 15th of this month. I represented myself as the

evidence of my horrible back condition spoke for itself. After about 15 minutes

the Judge said she is issuing a favorable decision and stopped asking anymore

questions. Yesterday I received the letter of her favorable decision. I think

it varies from Judge to Judge how each case is handled. In my case though, I

had two doctors medical opinions that I was permanently and totally disabled due

to what the Surgeon did to me during my last surgery. I had a simple Spinal

Cord Stimulator installed in my Thoracic spine. I woke the next day with

horrible banding pain around my chest, lost bowel and bladder function and

excruciating pain radiating up my spine and around my chest. I ended up having

an emergency laminectomy from T7 up to T10 which did not alleviate any of the

symptoms. They did a CT Myelogram and found that the surgeon had partially

flattened my spinal cord and an independent Neorosurgeon found that the Surgeon

had cut and damaged nerves in my T-Spine that resulted in the horrible pain and

now intermittent paralysis in my right leg. I am 41 years old and will have to

use a can and walker for the rest of my life. With all the evidence I was able

to get an favorable decision but each Judge thinks differently but has strict

guidelines he/she has to follow.

Take Care,

Greg

Sulisha,

I have been trying for just short of 2 years. As for support, my boyfriend lives

with me and pays all the bills and we get foodstamps.

I worked while he was waiting to get his disability. I am sorry to hear that you

have someone who is not supportive and does not believe in you enough to realize

that you are not faking but that you have real health issues. If you have

insurance start now getting your ducks in a row (pay off personal bills, get

medical evidence of your conditions, get 1 or more doctors that you see to write

something saying you are disabled and why, and put away as much cash as you

can). When you do apply and have to wait you will be at least somewhat prepared.

A lawyer will get 25% of any retroactive funds you get, up to $6,300 (I think).

Go to the SSA web site and there you will find a lot of information on the whole

disability process.

I have been curious about the process of getting on disability. I have

heard this is a very long process, always with an attorney who is going to

end up with your disability funds for their " work " . It's enough for most of

us to deal with our pain issues every hour of every day. How do you all

support yourselves? The worse thing for me is having a husband who doesn't

understand or acknowledge the pain I am in. He says I don't do any work

around the house, and that I'm worthless because I don't bring income into

the house.

Do any of you have information on the procedure of applying for disability?

How disabled do you need to be? I have heard this is a discouraging

process. I worked for fourteen years so I have contributed to my retirement

account. I would be grateful to hear about anyone else's process to get on

disability.

Blessings of good health to you all,

Sulisha

Well it's official! I got a phone call this morning from a lady at Social

Security to get updated information so she can start sending my SSI.

In 7-14 days I will get a check for retroactive benefits and my Oct. SSI check.

In 30-45 days I will get the rest of my retroactive benefits and start receiving

my regular monthly SS check.

I will get medicaid immediately and it will pay all my past due medical bills so

I will mostly be out of debt. Later when I get SSDI I will get Medicaire.

Even though I still hurt everyday and can't do most of the things I used to do,

life will be much easier with an income.

I want to thank everyone here. I have gotten a lot of great information that

helped me understand this process and how to muddle through it. I have also not

felt quite so alone knowing there are people who are suffering just like me.

Jane,

Given that your income has been very low I assume you will not have any
