Guest guest
County on alert for hepatitis A By Hume -- Bee Staff Writer Published 2:15 a.m. PST Saturday, November 15, 2003 SACRAMENTO - County Public Health officials have issued a health alert after an employee of the Elephant Bar restaurant on Arden Way was diagnosed with hepatitis A. Family members and restaurant employees are at the highest risk of contracting the disease, said Dr. Glennah Trochet, county health officer. Restaurant patrons are unlikely to contract the curable disease, but dates of possible transmission are Oct. 30 and 31 and Nov. 5 to Nov. 7. Concerned diners should see their physicians. Treatment can be administered within 14 days of exposure. Hepatitis A attacks the liver, but unlike hepatitis B and C, most people recover from hepatitis A, Trochet said.
