Genelabs says Gilead has terminated research collaboration agreement

NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Genelabs Technologies Inc. Monday said Gilead

Sciences Inc. has terminated a research collaboration agreement between the two

companies for the development of a hepatitis C virus nucleoside-based inhibitor,

and will return all rights to the compounds developed in the program to

Genelabs.

Genelabs, however, said its collaboration agreement with Novartis (nyse: NVS -

news - people ) AG is continuing on the next phase. The two companies entered

into the agreement in Sept. 2006, and the research phase of the collaboration

was completed on June 2, 2008
