i can't say what you should do, but for myself:

i never did a biopsy. VA wanted to, but i stalled. later found that they

can be totally misleading, even when several samples are taken during the

same procedure... it seems fibrosis isn't always evenly distributed. read

from two different people who had biopsies before surgery (gall bladder i

think it was for both)... one, severl procedures over a few weeks, and the

other 3 samples the same session within days before surgery... and both

turned out to have very advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis when opened up and

viewed. so, while on average biopsy might be a good indicator it can

sometimes be totally misleading... hit or miss.

there's always the possibility that the needle hits cancer and cancer cells

can in the process escape into the system and metastasize leading to big

trouble. slim but possible. it happens with prostate biopsies not all that

infrequently where cancers are common in older guys but if left alone can

take forever to grow if they're not an agressive type which is more rare.

there are other options for checking the condition of the liver coming into

use that are non-invasive and pretty accurate.

i'd only have a biopsy if for some reason i was going to do tx and it was a

mandatory part of it (VA: beggars can't be choosers, our way or the highway)

and an alternative like sonogram isn't available.

i've had hep since probably early 70's AFAIK.

i'm a new hepper myself,i just found out i have it little over a month ago. how

long do you think youve had it and did you do treatment? was it successful? i

dont believe treatment gets rid of this virus,i think it just drops the viral

load so loaw that it appears to be gone.i wont be doing the treatment right

now/i dont want to ever do it!!! im still doing my own investigating here. i

heard that they were yesting gratefruit juice in 06 but they said it would have

to be an injection, not sure watever happen there but im drinking gratefruit

juice, huge glass aday on ice,no sugar added!!! try drinking water with lemon to

help clean your liver. are you seeing a doctor and wat have they told you so

far? wat was your viral load?

you can send mail right to me if youd like :)
