Guest guest
Hi Angelique  You would better serve our cause by trying to educate everyone u meet on how to prevent getting the hep c and that they have nothing to fear from us. We are not lepors. We all cntracted it differently from getting manicures, to having sex with someone who had it(which is rare) to getting pricked by a needle from someone who has it. It is blood to blood. Unlike hep B where it can be spread thru a sneeze or a cough even, we need to educate and speak up. I got mine in Thailand doing accupuncture before disposable needles some 30 years ago. I have never given it to anyone because I am very careful. I deep sea fish and wear playtex gloves. That way, if I get a hook in a finger I bleed inside the glove and don't touch anything till I get my first aid kit, peroxide and bandaids go everywhere with me. There is no shame in contracting this disease. You are a victim and need support from your family and friends. Educate them. Go to support groups, listen to drs. and nurses who contracted it, children who got it before the 91 testing started. Preachers, teachers, the list goes on and take your mother. The fact she brought this up in front of your whole family speaks volumes to me. She needs to one, understand, two be educated, and three undo the damage she did to you. I'm sorry but that act is beyond my comprehension. She should be standing beside you not against.  Patti From: lin swindell <linswindell@...> Subject: RE: Re: (Hey Everyone) " heppers " <Hepatitis C > Date: Monday, September 7, 2009, 12:56 PM I just hid my profile. Don't connect to anyone that you don't want to see your information. From what I understand if you are connected to someone, they will know....when you comment on a group and other activities. Guest guest
Hello Lin, Perhaps not, but I am certain I received it from the air guns that they used on us in boot camp in the Navy. No drugs and no extra-marital sex and my wife does not have it. That sort of limits where I could have received it from. The military denies it, yet there was a scientific publication from the U.K. that showed proof that it could be passed from air injection guns. In this case, it makes a big deal out of proving it. If it was provable, I'd get (along with a lot of other veterans) free care for the hep-c. Fortunately, I am still enrolled with the VA and they will just make me pay a modest co-payment whilst they bill my commercial health insurance for the care. I simply couldn't afford $2400.00 up-front for medicine the first month which would be my maximum deductible under my commercial health insurance. Guest guest
Jim, Yes, I guess in a case like that it does matter. But even in that case it still came from someone else that the gun was used on. Unclean equipment, many vets were exposed to it from colonostopy equiptment also. Before disposable needles I am sure plenty was spread that way. My point is that until people can understand that we are not all junkies, and even junkies deserve a break, .....I don't know how to say it right now but it is like this...Not everyone that has Aids is gay...See what I'm saying? I wish the best for you and I wish there was a way to prove it for you and others so maybe some of the stigma would go away and folks could also get the care they deserve when they have attracted this disease from someone's faulty medical practices. I have also read where you can get it from dental equiptment that hasn't been cleaned properly.. Most eveyone has been to the dentist..see what I mean? ~*~LIN~*~ > Hepatitis C > From: aa2qa@... > Date: Mon, 7 Sep 2009 17:32:45 -0400 > Subject: RE: Re: (Hey Everyone) > > Hello Lin, > > > Perhaps not, but I am certain I received it from the air guns that they > used on us in boot camp in the Navy. Guest guest
Angel He was way wrong for not telling you. I don't think I could have dealt with that either. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. You are a good woman for being able to do that. My sons father may have had it. He also used intoenious drugs many years before I knew him. He died 2 years after I found out. I had my daughter tested but he would not go. I think it was because he didn't want me to blame him for it if he did have it. That was hard to deal with too. Sure didn't help me. ~*~LIN~*~ > Hepatitis C > From: angelique2230@... > Date: Mon, 7 Sep 2009 21:51:23 +0000 > Subject: Re: (Hey Everyone) > > > > > > Does it really matter how we got it. Guest guest
Hello Lin, I make no secret of it anymore. I've had no real problems and I had no problems landing a job working on radios for the government. Besides, one can get almost any info on anyone so long as one is willing to pay for it. However, I did make a big deal out of the hep when I first found out I was positive. I told my dentist and my doctor. Hiding the fact from the dentist might prove dangerous to him/her. We do have a responsibility to those uninfected with this dang-blasted disease. Privacy is pretty much gone I do feel more secure on the Internet, however, since changing to Ubuntu Linux Not only is it immune to viruses spreading over the Internet, it is far sturdier and far, *far* faster than Vista. There are even plug-ins available to encrypt chats via pidgin messenger, although I don't bother with that. It is amazing to turn on the power to the computer and be in my e-mail or on the Internet in under 20 seconds Best regards from Rochester, NY Jim On Mon, 2009-09-07 at 16:43 -0500, lin swindell wrote: > > > Jim, > > Yes, I guess in a case like that it does matter.
