Guest guest
I would love to be in South FL! I lived in Palm Beach Gardens for a while. Before that Lakeland. I was a traveling nurse down there. Now I work at the local hospital and thinking about trying traveling again. Depending if my neck gets better. I have to get away from the floor nursing though. Too much lifting which got me this bad neck to begin with. I went to Chicago a few months ago for the first time and loved it with some girls from work. I hated missing my little girl but other than that, I did ok. We were only there for 3 nights. We went up by train which was also a first. That was pretty neat. Got to go get my baby from Grandmas. Talk to ya soon! Mel --- Debbie Carlomagno <debbiecarlomagno@...> wrote: > Hi Melody! > The NW Suberbs I think. Guest guest
We are actually thinking about coming down to FL. I am going to try travel nursing out for a while. Long enough to pay some bills off so we can live on my husbands SS Disabilty check. Probably for a year at the most. I loved FL and would have stayed had I not been alone. The only bad thing is keeping insurance on myself and my little girl which costs a fortune after we come back home in a year or so. Being an IL resident, my daughter can get insurance thru the states program for like $20 a month....but first she has to go a year with no insurance. That is a crock. My husband's Medicare will kick in in Nov so he will be covered. I have to have insurance with Rhuematoid arthritis. I would try to get on the SS Disability but I dont see how we can make our bills for the next 3 months without a paycheck from me. Thinks have a way of working out though. I really hate working mainly because I use to be able to lift and now people act like I am lazy because I can't lift anymore. I " look " fine so I must be, right? Well now I have a big scar across my neck to prove that I was not lying about my neck hurting. It doesn't matter to the people I work with anyway, nobody has even called to check on me. Usually when somebody is off work, everybody signs a card and sends them some money or a gift. I think that is another reason I don't care to go back. Oh yeah, one person did call to check on me. Another thing while I am ranting..hehe....they gave everyone a baby shower except me and one other girl. My daughter is adopted from China...I guess that is their reasoning. She is my one and only. Guest guest
Melody I know how you feel the same thing happened to me also. I worked for this company for 5 years did anything and everything tried to never miss a day worked overtime and weekends. Then when problem stared 3 years ago with my neck I still did everything but then when I got worse and decided to go out on an early retirement they did nothing for me at all.So I left there in Jan.3 weeks after that they called and asked me to come in par time till they hired someone to take my place because nobody knew how to do my job. Well I did go back 4 days a week for 5 hours and come April when I got worse and they could see how bad I was they still did not hire anybody so one day I said I'm having trouble walking and I hurt real bad so I don't think I will be in on Tuesday. Then I went to the Dr. and he said no more work that I was getting worse. So I did call and tell them that I could not come back because the Dr said I need to quit and I told them why. My boss said but we need you we just hired someone for you to train I said tuff because I will not do any more damage to myself and that was that.So I heard from someone that they are in bad shape because nobody knows what to do and that made my day. I did send the owner and email to ell him way I had to leave all he said to me was have a good life and that was that. It's unreal to how good people get treated. Hug's,Ev. Guest guest
That is awful Ev! After you stayed with them and then they still treat you like that. I would quit too! Good for you!!! I work with these people and they are good people. I just can't figure out why they have their picks? Don't get me wrong, they did buy presents for my baby. I guess it just kind of hurts because they didn't have a get together like they did for everyone else. One girl that does all the decorations and spends a ton of money getting these showers together didnt get my baby ANYTHING. I was surprised at some that did buy and the ones that didn't. The other girl that they didn't have one for either...I brought a stroller and put a bunch of things in it like baby towels, stuffed animals, etc. If I had not done that, nobody would have done anything for her! This is a girl that is well liked. I thought I was too but I guess not. haha But yet, a new girl that nobody likes because she is a total smart alick, gets a shower. I just don't get it. People are really strange. What kind of work did you do? THis is why I only work 2 nights a week. They are 12 hour shifts. I usually take a couple days to rest up after I am done. Plus it is night shift...yuck. Mel --- EVELYN AIREY <EV9255@...> wrote: > Melody I know how you feel the same thing happened > to me also. Guest guest
I forgot to tell you Ev that when I told my boss I was going to have surgery on my neck he said, " Oh you won't be here this weekend? Guest guest
Hey Debbie....that was so funny what you said about the scar looking like you had been knived in an alley....it really does! The sore throat was the worst part for me. It was terrible....plus they gave me antibiotics that gave me thrush. The medicine to take care of that was sooo nasty. I was allergic to the morphine they gave me so I had to take benedryl. THen I took percocet and was itching with that also....so more benedryl. I was discharged 24 hours after surgery and basically with my eyes shut because I was so drugged from the benedryl. My husband was there with me. The first time I got up to hit the bathroom, I was shaking like a wet dog. Now, I understand how some of my patients feel. I am just now checking into the job market in FL. If we go to Orlando, I have quite a few options. So maybe there. Then while I am working, my husband can take our little one to Disney. haha She does love that mouse! Guest guest
I tell ya what...my husband had his esophogus removed due to cancer. We live in IL. His insurance was out of FL. He had the surgery in St Louis Missouri. I was on the phone every Fri for over a year trying to get them to straighten the bills out. First they said the hospital was out of the network so they only paid 60%. Then resubmitted again....then they were out of state so only 80% was paid. Then resubmitted AGAIN and finally paid 90%. That was nuts!!!!!!! THis was on God only knows how many bills. I finally just talked to a manager there and he did a wonderful job. At least it finally all got paid off. This was BCBS. Guest guest
Evevly, CEO's are jerks. I wonder if there is a CEO Jerk School!!! LOL I don't know why people in company's act like that. Even if a CEO has to keep their distant, they still know right from wrong so where is their moral compass???? I am in the health care field. I am a Medical Lab Tech and work for a large hospital system. I had a GI bleed back in April, 07. I knew that when I went to the GI doc that he would do a colonoscopy. I prepared my boss 22 days ahead to time, 22 days people! We had a nice long talk about it and I ask him if one day was better than another to schedule this procedure. He told me that all month was busy and he knew that I had to have this done. When I went to the Doc and picked a date, the next morning (I work third shift) I told by boss and he GOT MAD!! He told me that first he couldn't pay me for it even though I have a large number of PTO hours, #2 that we had a new computer system going up the week I needed two days off to have this done. That was a lie because everyone was sent an email about it plus another tech told me that was wrong. I knew it was and finally #3, my boss told me that their was another person on PTO and he just wanted me to know that I could not get paid for it. I told him " Fine " and did not say a never word. He stood there waiting for me to say I would just canceled but I did not say anything else and turned back to my work and left him stuttering to his self. I did end up changing the date the next day but I left plenty of documentation behind and plus I called the lady that takes care of FMLA and told her about it. I am now changing jobs and getting completely out to this Hell hole of a field. The money is not worth it. I have been doing Pet Sitting part time and I am going full time with that on July 21st. It is a lot of work but my body feels better when I do it and plus I will be back on day shift. YEA!! Yea!! My last night to work third shift will be on July 19th, it's not coming soon enough!
