Guest guest
Hi Sally. You are just an absolute doll. Thank you for the valuable information you provided. I'm just so nervous about how the methadone will affect my liver!!! I'm allergic to Interferon--the only medicine out there for Hep C'ers. Here I am a nice Jewish girl and never heard of the Weitzman Institute. I had wanted to rapid detox off of oxys, but it is very expensive; and I'm just a middle of the road citizen. My inheritance was spent on my house with no mortgage! I want off methadone so bad; my doctor took away my driver's license because I am on it. I feel jailed in my house all day. I live in Laguna Hills, actually " Leisure World " senior citizen community. My best friend, age 57, got me in, as I am only 49 (to be 50 in May). Sally, you are a very nice person. When I first moved to Calif. from NYC in 1983, I used to go to Hollyweird and hang out in clubs and after hour clubs. It was some scene, equivalent to NYC's after hour scene. What is the Weitzman Institute? You'd think I'd know. For a while there, years ago, no Jewish group had any detox or support from drug addiction for woman. Only men! Like Chabad. Now they are helping both genders. How did it feel going through rapid detox? I hear you kinda hurt after a few days. But you must take Naltrexone or Trexan as we called it in the 80s. Yes, I know about Suboxen. I will talk to my doctor about it. I am on 100 ml of methadone. I want to start detoxing. At what point in dosage do I start taking Suboxen? I am new to medical detox versus kicking on one's own, which NEVER worked. I tried it 37 times. Thanks so much for reading my post. You are a true love bug. Love, Debbie p.s. Yes, you are lucky you are allergic to methadone. It is not an alternative for you, gal! And carrying around your Naltrexone is like a heart attack patient carrying his nitroglycerin. Your girlfriend is in a bad place. My prayers go out to her and you to continue to have a nice life. p.p.s. Thanks for inviting me to be your friend on a personal note. I think that's way cool. > > > Hi my name is Debbie, and I am new to this group. I have Hepatitis C > > for 20 years now, and I was looking for support on the Net. Guest guest
Debra, I detoxed from methadone about four years ago and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was never at 100 ml, though, the highest I ever went was 60 ml. I started on methadone for the sole purpose of detoxing- I had no intention on being " maintained " . When I had my ex-husband arrested (long dramatic story) I was completely dependant on opiate based drugs and no longer had any way to get them. It took me almost a year to wean off of the methadone, and I had plenty of hard days and sleepless nights. However, I had been through so much worse with my drug addiction and constant withdrawls... (I was sick after 12 hours of not having anything) anyways, it wasn't a pleasant experience but it was bearable, and I got through it. I made it absolutely my number one goal. It was something I had to prove to myself (and my dirtbag ex-husband, who I felt drug me down). I didn't know it at the time, but while I was on methadone I was infected with HCV (something else I thank the dirtbag for). I found out I was infected in August last year, and I am 30 years old. I had stage 1, grade 2 and a viral load of 12 million. So, I'm not sure how the year of being on methadone affected the HCV. I wish you all the luck, prayers, best wishes, etc. I have never shared this much of my past before. I just know how hard it is to become no longer chemically dependent, and I know how bad you want to be free. And it does take some time for your body to get back to " normal " ... but it will. I took naltrexone for 1 month after my last dose of methadone. I have never looked at an illegal drug (or my ex-husband the dirtbag) since. Believe me you can do it and it is worth it! However you decide is best for you. Good Luck! Debra Irene Zuckerwise <DebraZ949@...> wrote: Hi Sally. You are just an absolute doll. Thank you for the valuable information you provided. Guest guest
Hi there Kerri (?). That was very pleasant and very compassionate of you to write. I detoxed from methadone once before--20 years ago. I was only 30 then; it was harder than anything in my life besides the Interferon shots and addiction to drugs. It must feel soooo good to be clean and free--clean from any mind altering drugs and also to be rid of that ex-dirt bag you had as a husband (if we can give him that honor of a word). I am sorry you had to endure such a tormentous marriage / partner. Thanks for writing. Anytime you want to personally tell me a woe or a glee, write to me at DebraZ@... or debra_zuckerwise@.... Can anyone tell me what this viral load of millions is about. All I know is about the ALT enzymes. Mine was 300, came down to 100 since I gave up martinis. Guest guest
Life is great now... I got rid of the dirtbag, the drug addiction, the methadone.. everything negative. That was four years ago, and luckily becoming more and more of a distant memory. I am married to a wonderful man now, have two great kids, a great job... everything is positive. The only downer was when I found out about the HCV last year. But, now I'm halfway through treatment and undetectable in my viral load. Things hopefully will be back to normal soon. Guest guest
viral load is a separate test and they fluctuate...... yours is probably very low....... you have to ask for the test and unless 16 mil docs don't usually use it as a scale.... they use the enzyme tests or the liver bx to tell them what next step is.... you can find all information on LeighAnn's site or others .,... but all here at......http://web.archive.org/web/20031022022709/www.geocities.com/1Leighann/ let me know how things work out..... hugs, sally --- Debra Irene Zuckerwise <DebraZ949@...> wrote: > Hi there Kerri (?).
