Starting treatment this weekend

Hi and welcome to the group!

I am on week 9 of tx and so far it has been bearable. The first few weeks were

scary in that I kept expecting really bad sides but when nothing happened I

worried that the tx woasn't working. Eventually, I did get rashes which itched

alot but then dissapeared. I would say what I learned was not to worry too much

about the sides until you actually get them. I spent alot of my energy worrying

and being paranoid about every little feeling or itch or pain, thinking it was

the beginning of something horrible. If and when you get them, then don't keep

them to yourself like I did for so long. I only asked my doctor for help with

the itching after getting feedback from the group. So all in all, I would say

don't make yourself sicker by worrying needlessly but if something happens,

kick up a fuss at the doctor's office.

Now you should be spending your time making sure you're as strong as you can

be healthwise and mentally!

Hi everybody,

This weekend I'm starting my treatment. Not scared of the treatment,

but anxious about how I'll react to it--you know, what side effects

I'll have.

For those of you who are in treatment or already been through

treatment, what one piece of information stands out in your mind as

being important to pass on to others?

Your advice will be much appreciated.

I just started treatment a week ago, however I have been in a support group for

1 year previously and heard every story that there is, I guess, so when I got a

fever of 102 the first night, it was to be expected. No fevers since then

though, so I feel great except in the late afternoon, and evening I get tired

sooner, than later.

My biggest thing about treatment is to plan my days ahead of time to ensure that

I can always rest, and staff COOL during this stupid So Cal. heat wave, anytime

I might need too. I really want to spoil my body you might say, at this time

and not fight against it.

good luck !

Thanks so much for the information. I'm trying to keep a positive

outlook and not worry too much about the possible side-effects, and

hopefully will just take it one day at a time. I hope I follow you

in that treatment is bearable.

Sounds like a good plan and I plan on spoiling my body as well!

I've thought about what I need to do to plan my days, and that's the

part that will be difficult to do since I'm a rather spontaneous

type of person. But we have to do what we have to do. Sounds like

it's going not so bad for you, and I hope that I do as well.

Getting ready for the injection and kind of queasy thinking about

it ... not fond of needles.

Thanks for sharing, and take care of yourself ~

Hi Sara, Thanks for all the good information. I hadn't realized

about the night sweats, so definitely this time of year to begin

really works. Weight loss would be a bonus .... that I can deal

with no problem at all! Unfortunately, since I'm Genotype 1, I'll

be on the treatment for 48 weeks instead of 24. I have to keep

telling myself to take it one day at a time. Thanks again for your

help.

I was diagnosed with HVC genotype 3a last year. HCV is in remission after 19

weeks of treatment with 5 more to go! meaning I am a responder of the pegasys

treatment.

There some days that my energy level is low but able to continue working

through the treatment.

At the begginning of the treatment the worst was the body ache, nauseas and

restless feeling. I use the thights area for the weekly injection.

Acetaminophen prior of the injection easy the body ache. I have lost weight and

also my hair is thinner.

Try to keep the stress level low, which is easy to say than done, always help.

Don't give up!

Good luck with your treatment.
