(IMDC) said sales through mid-May for the second quarterwere $31.3 million, down 4.5% from last year.In a press release Tuesday, Inamed said year-to-date sales were $89.1 million, which is 4.2% lowerthan a year ago.The surgical and medical device company said that U.S. breast implant dollar sales are down, whileunit sales are up, as in the first quarter.Outside the U.S., especially in Europe, collagen sales continue to lag last year's results, partlydue to concerns related to bovine spongiform encephalopathy.However, obsesity products generated strong sales in the first half of the quarter. The companyexpects to receive Food and Drug Administration approval for its Lap-Band product before the closeof the second quarter, which should further boost sales of obesity products.For the full year-ago second quarter, Inamed posted sales of $67.6 million.
