Both thrush and the nether land problems are yeast infections. Your mother will

need an antibotic with a antifungal, or Difulcan( I thing that's the way you

spell it.)

Also yogart helps and achiduplus. Make your mother tell the doctor she need

something for the problems. I was on Antibotic for years, because I developed

roscea, I kept going to the gyn because of the itch and soreness. Then I

mention getting the medicine from the dermologist. Also while taking antibotic,

avoid aged cheese. It will give her diaharra and stomach pains. It took me two

years to finds out I didn't have some kind of stomach cancer. The doctor should

know this is a side effect of antibotics, medicine 101. You have to bitch and

bitch to your doctor, to get some help. But I find crying is the best. They

give you the prescription just to get you out to the room.

I cannot imagine why a medical doc would put her on antibiotics for a yeast

infection. In fact, that would only make the problem worse (as it indeed

seems to have done)! I'd drop the other doc and go see someone who has not

flunked med school. Seriously, though, she should be on an anti-fungal med.

(sorry I cannot think of the name but there are only one or two). Thrush is

known to develop when one's immune system has been weakened, as hers was from

treatment. It does not necessarily mean she has something more serious such as

HIV. I know this first hand as I got thrush when I was on a high dose of

cortisone for two weeks due to a severe allergic reaction.

Yes, she has been tested for HIV, however, I will have make sure

that she is tested again when she goes in just to be on the safe

side.

Yeast infections should be treated by dietary changes.

Certainly not by anti-biotics!!!!!!!!!!!Perhaps she could see a

naturopath instead of an anti-biotic pusher.

She should probably watch out for and stop any sugars and take

acidophilis...

It is the only thing I have ever seen that can help restore the

balance. It is sometimes referred to as a Pro-biotic.

As it is filled with live pro-biotics, only purchase it from a

health food store that understands the nature of it..and keeps it

refrigerated.

Do not waste your $$ on it from a store that is trying to " get in on

the health food craze " like shoppers or safeway as they do not

refridgerate it and therefore are selling a useless product.

You must also keep it refridgerated...

also for the pain at both ends....

plain yogurt (ie~no sweeteners/flavourings) can help...

I hope she gets this under control..it is not fun to have yeast

infections...

Sorry for your mom's troubles... Probiotics are definitely part of what

she needs to do to restore the flora balance...Probiotics introduce gut

friendly

bacteria back into your system, where the good and the bad compete with each

other and balance is maintained in this manner always in your system.

However if you wish to hasten the process give her some oregano or garlic oil

as well. Oregano seems more potent to me, but both are effective.

It comes in gel caps, and you can get them at any vitamin cottage.

(these oils actually " kill off " some the bad bacteria and fungi)

Have her take three a day...spread out...and its important NOT to take the

pro biotic with it...the oil will kill off the healthy bacteria you are

trying to

re introduce...so have her take the pro biotic just before bed.

I recommend Jarro-dophilus..it is a refrigerated product.

You can also get oregano oil in a bottle with a dropper...use it in place, or

in

addition to toothpaste to get rid of the thrush...it works wonders!

Just a little bit though...it is very peppery, so it can sting a little if

you use too

much...just a drop is good.

My brother who is HIV positive uses this regimen and its keeps him yeast free.

Use which ever oil you wish for thirty days, in combination with the

probiotics,

then if after thirty days...it still seems to be around...take a week off,

and then

switch oils and do for 30 days more.

During the " die off " period though....its common to feel a little flu like,

or have

a dull ache in the back of the neck...just work thru it...that means it

working, and

it will pass. Its just your lymphatic system at work, not to worry !

Nistatin (or Nystatin- not sure of spelling) is a liquid prescription

that can be gargled or swallowed for thrush. There are also other

medications to treat it, but it is frequently from antibiotics,

because the antibiotics kill ALL bacteria in the mouth and vagina,

even the good ones that we need. I hope she is feeling better and

getting the right meds to kill the thrush.
