Franz,

Sure appreciate you sharing your experience on treatment. So happy for you

that you were able to do all that you did and am a responder, (if I understood

you correctly).

I start the PEG/combo tomorrow nite so your post is very timely for me, thanx

again!

Take care, Lora

Working While on Treatment

To Lora and everybody,

I sure do agree with the comment that working during treatment (if one can) is

a good way to keep your mind off your treatment troubles. I'm sorry to sound

like the " Pollyanna " here, but as someone recently said -- probably Claudine --

it doesn't hurt to hear more success stories amid all the horrors. During my 48

weeks on the old Combo treatment I didn't miss a single day of work. And I work

as a high school teacher, which is not easy -- on my feet all day and often 10

or 11 hour workdays when you add in preparation, after class meetings, and

grading papers.

There were plenty of days I didn't want to get out of bed, but I did anyway. I

just focused on getting through each week and I conserved all my energy for the

essentials. That meant 48 weeks of work and sleep, basically. No social life!

Granted, my side effects were much milder than some other people suffer. But

this is just another example. Treatment is not always hell. And it's not the

worst thing that can happen to you. In fact, if it is successful in eradicating

the virus (which it seems to have done in my case), it seems like the beginning

of another, healthier, life.

Thanks Franz,

Yes treatment isn't always bad, kind of like having a baby

you forget somewhat after wards and its worth the try and if nor effective

then at least you know that you have given it a good try and done your best

and there is always hope that some other company wil develop something to

help eradicate this disease

I am a relapser but have to say I feel pretty good, a lot better than before

so to me it was worth it because its great to feel better also now I still

get tired from time to time but nothing yet like before

Hope everyone is enjoying the new year

Hi Suzy

I kinda like your thoughts on this hmmmm, like having a baby hey? Longest 9

months in my life cuz I had morning sickness (lol) for the whole 9 months. But

hey, you are right...we forget after we have the baby. Hope my treatment, when

it happens, goes like that.

I worked through out my treatment - full time as an RN -- BUT I virtually did

very little else. got real tired of having no energy just laid around . Had

trouble getting going in the mornings for awhile. when days off came it was all

I could do to get laundry done for one but really I was able to work and missed

very little time.

Thanks for the info, Lyn. With all the bad stuff I've heard about

treatment, it's good to know there are some who can work during

treatment which means there is hope for me. I've been tired for the

past three months which is why I went to my doctor in the first

place and when I tested postive for HCV.

:

My wife is in retail mangement and still maintains

50-60 hour plus weeks, but as lyn said that is all she

can do. She now has only 8 more treatments she has

missed only 2 days in the course of shots due to

nausea
