I think rather sure that with sex, there is no risk of infection. I am having

HCV but my wife has NO. doc say that there are very remote chances, so be relax.

I just wanted to note that although risk of infection through sex is very low,

there are times where a little extra caution should be taken, for example, if

the female partner is infected, sex during menses should probably be done with

use of a condom. And, of course, be ever mindful of every day cautions like

razors and toothbrushes. I also have a box of latex gloves around, in case

anyone would have to clean up my blood, for example. Thanks for listening.

What about common sense? Ok, try this on...This is a blood

transmitted disease, transferred/re-infection commonly thru shared

tooth brushes and razors, but slim chance of recieving it thru

intercourse???? What is wrong with this picture??

Did you take reading comprehension in grammar school? Extra care should be taken

if BLOOD is around during sex, ie menses, wounds... No blood/no risk of

infection... I don't know how rough you like your sex, but most people usually

aren't bleeding from everyday intercourse. By the way, I quoted gov't literature

almost word for word.

bleeding gums during brushing are far more common than blood exchanges

during normal intercourse...all it takes is for both to have gum disease

& /or a bad enough tooth. normal in this usage doesn't include rough,

forceful, or sodomy. makes perfect sense to me.

coke sniffers can pass it by sharing straws or whatever because the

membranes up the nostrils are delicate, nosebleeds not uncommon, ...

I dont think the question is how blood to blood

contact occurs easiest. The question is if blood to

blood is really the only way hep c is passed. Im going

to read some more..........md

According to a recorded msg from the King Co. Dept. of

Health, Hep C virus is in the blood, but can also be

spread through intercourse, though uncommon. So there

it is, hep c can be spread w/o b2b contact. If

intercouse was just another way 4 b2b contact to

occur, it would have been included in the list of

things like clippers, toothbrushes, and razors. But

instead, intercourse stood alone, implying hep c can

be in stuff other than blood. So now a new question,

who has it in something other than their blood? Also,

how would I know whether I contacted it thru b2b or

sex? I guess things can be narrowed down thru

elimination, but ultimately u cant say 4 sure how i

got it if I was doing anything thats high risk AND

being sexually active. And Im probably not the only 1

who answered yes 2 1 high risk category along with yes

2 being sexually active. How many folks r there here

who r sexually active, not using protection, with an

infected partner and have managed not 2 get the virus?

....i think i might've saw once where it was found in saliva, but still would

have to find it's way into the blood. it dodesn't get assimmilated in the

digestive tract unless there's an abnormmal condition there allowing it to

get into the blood. it's likely present in lymphatic, spinal, & other fluids

also...probably a high likelihood in feces at least if there's g.i.

problems, don't know about urine.... but those fluids aren't mormally

readily exchanged & would pose danger to health care people.

i think you put incorrect meaning into the way what you read was maybe not

so well structured.

Yes, hep C can be transmitted through sex....Men having sex with

men, sex workers (prostitutes), sex where genital warts, herpes or

shingles has caused a break in the skin surface. If the woman is on

her period and the male has open sores or abrasions on his penis or

if he performs oral sex and has bleeding gums he could get

infected. If the man has recently had a prostate biopsy and engages

in anal sex with a woman..she could get infected.

If you and your patner regularly put bandages on each other after

sex there is a risk for infection.

couples where one partner is infected and the other is not, the

infection rate is something like one infection in 450 patient years.

Your point has been made for the sexual infection route. If you

really think you were infected through sex, you are in the less than
