Unless you have significant liver damage I would not worry about the

physician feeling for hardness. However, I would be much more concerned about

any

blood tests they will run. I would think they would check for HIV and

possibly hep A, B and C. In the case that they'd find out I do not know if

they

would fail you on your physical or whether they'd just have an exclusion for

preexisting conditions.

FIELD SOON , THEN I'LL HAVE SOME BENEFITS.

HOWEVER THE MAJOR HURDLE IS GONNA BE PASSING A DOT PHYSICAL.THERE IS

A

DOT PHYSICAL FORM IN WICH THE DR. MUST GO BY .ONE OF THE THINGS HE

MUST DO IS FEEL FOR LIVER ENLARGMENT , AND HARDNESS OF THE LIVER.

IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MY UPPER RIGHT ABDOMAN IS JUST SLIGHTLY MORE

PROTRUDING THAN THE OTHER SIDE.AND I'M SOMEWHAT OVERWEIGHT , BUT IT

SURE SEEMS TO ME THAT STOMACH STICKS OUT FURTHER THAN IT SHOULD.SO

MY QUESTIONS ARE :

WHAT DOES A DOCTOR FEEL FOR WHEN HE PRESSES ON YOUR LIVER DURING A

PHYSICAL?

CAN HE TELL BY FEEL IF THERE IS LIVER DAMAGE? WHAT IF THE LIVER

FEELS HARD?I HEARD A DOCTOR CAN ACTUALLY USE A STETHESCOPE ON THE

ABDOMAN IF THERE IS SWELLING OF IT , AND HEAR FLUID MOVING IF IT IS

RETAINED IN THE ABDOMIN IS THIS TRUE? IF A PERSON IS OVERWHEIGHT -

CAN THE DR. TELL BY PRESSING ON THE ABDOMIN IF IT'S JUST FAT , OR

FLUID RETENTION?

ALSO IF ANY OF YOU HAVE , OR HAVE HAD , FLUID RETNTION IN YOUR

ABDOMAN WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE COMPARED TO JUST FAT.

ANY ANSWERS OR ADVICE YOU ALL COULD GIVE I'D GREATLY APPRECIATE!

THNXS!

Depending on the state that you live in...once you are diagnosed with Hep C

The physician is required to register that result with the Center for disease

control.

I know this is true for Colorado...

The registry keeps track of infected persons the same way they keep track

of HIV positive persons.

The result is attached to your social security number...and the insurance

companies

have access to this information.( although they will deny it)

I have not been able to get health insurance since my diagnosis.

Fortunately my son, who also tested positive...had good insurance at the

time, and

they cannot drop you based on your result.

good luck to you!

That was exactly my point. I, too, thought his question was directed at

getting insurance coverage. Those insurance companies know how to exclude as

many folks as possible. I had trouble getting insurance years ago when the

only medical condition I had was a diagnosis of allergies. No wonder folks are

moving to Canada. While their system is far from perfect at least you do get

coverage and are not forced to take out a second mortgage to get treatment!!

Yes there is ...but its extremely expensive...if I could afford the

insurance, I could

afford to be an out of pocket patient...so it really isnt an option.

I know in Colorado..there is a program called " Cover Colorado " they take

you on

regardless of any condidtion you have...but my monthly quote was over 700.00

not helpful in my opinion.
