Guest guest
Hello , I posted that bit about nerve biopsy because I just found the site and it is very good. Now it is in bookmarks. While I don't know your son's age, I had a biopsy (nerve and muscle when I was 14. Nothing to it. Not even given an anesthetic other than a local. Stayed in the hospital only 2 or 3 days (this was 1966) Just had to wear bandages and keep incisions clean, etc. I only had a bit of pain as I started to walk, well, of course, a smidgeon of my nerve/muscle had been cut. As the muscles and nerves healed, I walked A OK again, never had any bad effects to this day. The biopsies are used for different reasons; in my case it was used to rule out any other neurological disorders, as I was being re - evalauted. Like I said, I have had NO PAIN in the rest of my life as a result of that biopsy. Matter of fact with all the tests I have had, the biopsy seems the easiest one. Perhaps if your son is young, you might ask about a sedative; maybe even now parents are allowed in with children, who knows? I would also suggest you ask your son's Dr. exactly WHY this biopsy is SO important NOW and what HE/SHE(the Drs) are looking for or hope to find. Like I said, and this was years ago, out of all the neurological invasive tests, this one was a piece of cake. Nothing to worry about with pain for the rest of his life. That contradicts my experience. Matter of fact, my scars have faded I have to look real hard to find them. Hope this helps. ~ Gretchen
